Question about Sony VGN-T350/L PC Notebook
Best buy guy says buy new computer because if sound card is bad, I must replace mother board + labor. which he says new purchase of new computer is best route.
Is this true?
It's true that with a laptop, replacing some parts means replacing the motherboard as they are integrated parts, this applies with the sound card. If your laptop is under warranty then you should be able to get it fixed, otherwise you need to weight the cost of replacing the motherboard verses buying a new computer. Seeing as how the motherboard in a laptop is pretty much half the computer, it may be cheaper to buy a new one.
