More information- there are three burners. Burner two and three stay lit although burner two burns hotter. Burner one will ignite but unless I hold in the ignition/control knob it goes out. There does not appear to be anything inside any of the three new burners.

    I checked, not clogged

The flame is blue when it is going

  • chris368 Mar 12, 2009

Ok, I took it all apart and put it all back togehter again. Now they all stay on but gas flow is very low with all three turned on at the same time. It was not like that in the past. What to do?

  • chris368 Mar 13, 2009

I must be missing something. I took it apart and put it back together. I wonder if the air shutter needs to be adjusted. I took out the new burners and put them back in, hooked up a new tank of gas and really need some step by step directions on what to do. Please help, thanks!

If you keep getting this kind of troubles , the problem is still assembly. Something had not been done in the right way, or the range behaviour would not have changed after re-assembling everything together.

I would bump the gas flow a bit and make sure there are no obstructions within the system. check the valve for malfunctions as well.

seems to be an uneven fuel flow. one side of the flow is heavier than the other side. check the flex hose to see if its kinked or twisted.

On an LP grill, if an extremely low flame is present, or is hard to ignite, the
flow-limiting device may have activated. To reset the flow limiter turn all burners control knobs to “high”. Wait at least 1 minute. Turn burner control knobs “OFF”, reconnect the regulator to the cylinder. Turn cylinder valve on slowly. Refer to Lighting Instructions.

Check to be sure burner ports, shutter, end of the burner (venturi) and orifice(s) are free of any obstructions. Also, if your grill has been stored over a prolonged period of time, check to make sure no spiderwebs have been formed in the shutter end of the burner (venturi) or over orifices.

Have a home depot ducane 5 burner. just replaced burner tubes. have never used the rotisserie burner on it before. it lights but won't stay lite after releasing knob...any suggestions? Thanks

Infrared burners requite that the gas control knob be held in for 2 minutes or so, to allow the thermocouple on the infrared burner to heat up completely. If it's windy were you are, the wind can blow the burner out, while trying to light it. That's why it has a thermocouple on it, to stop the gas if the burner goes out. All cooking on the rotisserie is doon with the lid/hood closed, at temperatures around 250 degrees F. Once the infrared burner turns bright red, release the control knob.

Hope this helped you to get it lit. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have a stainless steel Ducane BBQ with five burners plus side burner and a rottisserie burner , which does not work. It is approx 5 years old and I have never used the rottisserie till last week. I have...

Since you've never used it. It may simply be a case that the infrared rotisserie burner is dirty and clogged with grease from cooking on the main burners. In addition, the Thermocouple and the igniter for that burner may also have a grease build up. In which case it won't allow the burner to light.

The electronic igniter that lights the main burners, also ignites the the rotisserie burner. Are you geting the click noise on the main burner igniters? If not, the battery in the igniter button needs to be replaced. Be sure to take note of the way the old battery is facing, when you unscrew the igniter cap. Because, that's the way the new battery should face.

Also, try match lighting the rotisserie burner. To do this, turn the Rotisserie Burner's Control Knob to the ON position and push it in, as you touch the lit match to the burner. If the burner lights continue to hold the burner knob in for a couple of minutes. This allows the Thermocouple and the ceramic plaques to heat up completely. Then slowly release the burner knob and the burner should remain lit.

If it doesn't stay lit, clean the burner and the Thermocouple ,in the manner that is described in your Owner's Manual.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!

One burner wont light of the 3

Is the igniter not sparking or is gas not getting to that burner? Have you tried to match light that burner? Those three things is where you start troubleshooting the problem

If the igniter is not sparking, it could be that the igniter is covered with cooking grease or the wire to the igniter has come loose either at the igniter or the igniter module. And simply needs to be reattached (pushed back on).

If the burner won't match light, than it's not getting gas and should be removed and thoroughly cleaned. And while you're at it, remove and clean all the burners and the venturis valves.

Removing the buner burners on a Ducane grill is a bit of a task, so I have included a link to your Owners Manual to assist you. Pay particular attention to the section Annual Maintenance, starting on page # 28.

Burners will not stay lit

It could be a number of problems. The burners you installed may not have the air adjustment set properly. Each venturi tube has a opening for air at the gas valve orifice. Change the setting and see if it helps. It's also possible, but not likely, that the tank you got wasn't purged properly if it was new. Another possibility is the excess flow valve in your gas hose is checking and only allowing a trickle of gas to come thru. Close the tank valve, wait a minute and then open the tank valve slowly and try lighting it again. Hope that helps!

How do I remove the old burners to replace with new?

Should be as easy as removing the screws at the ends of the tubes and sliding the tubes away from you and putting the new ones in like you took out the old ones.

Cannot light new burners

I just replaced my burners and I also cleaned the starters. Get a wire brush about the size of a tooth brush to clean the starter, the thing that makes the spark to start the flame.

Burner replacement on Ducane 30400040

Remove the 2 grill wire cooking racks by lifting them out of the top of the grill, next lift out to remove the 3 heat deflector panels which exposes the 3 burner tubes. Remove the 4 screws located on the outside flanks (2 on each side) of the 5-knob control panel assembly - then gently slide the knob control assembly outward and away from the grill just about an inch or two. You can now remove the old burner tubes and replace them with the new units. Then simply slide the control assembly back into the grill frame and replace/tighten the 4 screws. Voila`
