Question about Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

1 Answer

No suction, again.

There is absolutely no suction when I try to vacuum a hard surface or carpet. When I take the cannister off I can feel the suction from the openings behind the cannister so I know the suction is there. I have checked the various places that could be blocked and there are no blockages...If you have any suggestions that could fix this problem please let me know. Please also let know if you have no suggestions and you think it would be just as useful to me if it were sitting at the dump. :)

Thank you in advance for your prompt response!

Very Sincerely,
Janelle M. Huber

There is a blockage somewhere and its most probably jammed between the main dust channel between the beater bar and the bottom hose inspection. Remove the sole plate to see if anything is still stuck, check the beater bar as well and see if there is anything obstructing at the main hose removal point.

Why does my kirby shake ?

If your Kirby is just sitting on a hard surface and is shaking, something is either on the fan or brushroller putting it out of alignment. Here is how to change the fan / impeller if broken.
how to change Kirby fan / impeller.

If it shakes while you are pushing against the carpeting you can try adjusting the height of the brush until it is just touching the carpeting. Some thick pile carpeting the Kirby will still shake or jump on, the strong suction causes it to trip over the thick pile that is lifted up when vacuuming.

There is too much suction even with the hand tools on Hoover wind tunnel. Can i adjust suction somehow?

Hi, it's Jeremy from Crucial Vacuum.

If there is too much suction, adjust the nozzle control knob to a higher setting. The knob is located on the front of the vacuum at the bottom. For optimal cleaning efficiency a low setting should be used for most types of carpet and for hardwood floors, tile, and deep carpets use a higher setting.

The suction for carpet cleaning is great but there is very little suction through the hose. I have cleaned out the hose but there is still very little suction. What else can I do?

Have you tried cleaning the hose from the vacuum end, the end that feeds the sweepings into the cannister/bag? Might be something close to that end of the hose. Also, one reason for a hose not to work is the possibility of a cut or broken hose or a loose connection. The closer an opening like this might be to the vacuum end of the hose, the less suction the unit will have through the hose as it will pull air through the hole/break easier than through the full length of the hose.

Does the vacuum lose suction when in the floor mode if the belt is broken?

To put it simply, no. By floor mode I'm assuming you're stopping the brush roll from turning so that you can clean hard surface floors instead of carpet. When the brush roll doesn't turn you do lose agitation which vibrates the carpet so that the dirt is more easily picked up by the vacuum. But you don't lose suction because the brush is not turning.

Hoover Tempo Widepath Blows Dirt Out Back on Hard Surfaces

lots of times switching to hard surface floors you need to slow down because the air flow that does the actual picking up of the dirt can't work as fast as the spinning brush so the brush is throwing the dirt out the back before the suction can pick it up. Try slowing down

Hoover Windtunnel carpet level adjustment

The suction is so great that it sucks up your carpet, then nothing works. I get my children to stand on the corners/edges of the rug so that it stays perfectly flat on the floor while I vacuum. Or, you can turn off the brush roller (set it to "hard floor" setting). Or, tip the vacuum cleaner's front up slightly while vacuuming, to reduce suction.

Poor suction...continued

Wish I had it in my shop, it is hard to figure your problem. I do know that you must have something out of place and you may have to take it apart to find it. You may feel some suction there at the top of the clear nozzle, but maybe it isn't strong enough to pull anything up, but you may have a problem witrh it not seating all of the way on both sides, and you ,maynot feel much there anyways. Check at the bottom where the tank sits. is the seal ok. With the tank off, is there alot of suction at the filter screen? If there is, then the problem wouldn't be inside. Is the hose door on the back closed tightly? How old is this unit, if less then a year, then it is under warranty. There is an automatic shutoff for suction when it senses that the tank is full, maybe the problem is there. I believe it is the float inside the tank.

I have a Eureka "The Boss" vacuum that doesnt seem to be sucking up as much as it should and did in the past when vacuuming on carpet and hard floor surfaces.

I have a Eureka "The Boss" vacuum that doesn’t seem to be sucking up as much as it should and did in the past when vacuuming on carpet and hard floor surfaces.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
This could be because the vacuum has a clog or blockage, it may need a belt change every 4 to 6 months as recommended by the factory, sometimes the material you pickup on the carpet and bare floors will plug the pores of the inside if the paper bag or dirt cup filter, if the filter is clogged it looses the suction power or the bottom plate is not on properly or all of the above. These are some of the items to check when you lose suction.

Kenmore Bagless Issue

after cleaning the filter, replace the bag.But this time before you close the lid, make sure you remove the hose.after the lid is closed then put the hose back on.

leaving the hose connected to the lid after closing will create a gap between the bag holder and the bag.so just remove the hose first before changing the bag
