Question about Proform PFTL79807 - 850 W/ Gamefit Elliptical
My elliptical started smoking after I plugged in the wrong size adaptor.
I've tried my elliptical numerous times and the whole thing works fine, even the fan. Is my machine ok, or should I try and take it apart to see if I harmed something?
Usually when you let the smoke out your done, but if it seems to be OK, I would just run (ellipe) with it. The board is probable damaged but working, you might of burned a few contacts, sniff around. You can take the covers off and look but if they are burned bad you might just finnish it off. How long it lasts can't be determined, but it is just a matter of time before it goes.

Use your flathead screwdriver to pry off the plate on the left side of the elliptical trainer.
Look for the magnet and reed
switch. These elements will be roughly the same size, and the reed
switch should have a series of wires connected to it.
Loosen the screw in the reed
switch using your screwdriver. Move the reed switch by hand until it
sits 1/8 inch from the magnet, then re-tighten the screw.
Test the unit to see if the
display and heart rate monitor are working properly. If not, move the
reed switch slightly so it is closer or farther from the magnet, then
try the machine again. Once you've found the correct location for the
switch, tighten the screw to hold the reed switch in place.
Replace the cover plate by snapping it into position by hand
God bless you
