I'm not sure what you are describing. I do have the service manual available to me, so if you can better describe what you need, I should be able to post it for you.

Thanks,
Dan

My stereo just quit on me there was bad weather but it was on one of those power surge cords it is a pioneer stereo fm-am digital synthesizer tuner

If it was plugged into a surge protector, check the surge protector warranty. There are A LOT of surge protectors that will cover damage to items plugged into them through their warranty system. I've had full home computers and TV's replaced by surge protector companies to avoid having a hit to homeowners insurance.

It keeps blinking protetor

The protector circuit protects your amplifier from shorted speakers . One of your speakers , or more speakers are shorted out . To figure it out easily follow these instructions . Turn the unit off . Now unplug all of the speaker wire connections from the back of the unit . Turn the unit on . Make sure the volume is turned all the way down . The protector light should not light up . If it does , the problem is inside the unit itself and we'll have to be repaired at the shop . If the protector light is off than continue on as follows . Connect the speakers one at a time to the unit . Each time you connect a speaker , turn the volume control up and back down making sure the protector light does not come on . When you connect the bad speaker , the protection light should come on . Whichever speaker makes the lights come on when connected is the bad speaker and should be replaced .

The protector flashes STR DE625

Chances are it will need replacement parts (output transistors and a couple of resistors) Probably best left up to a repair shop tech.

Error code - protector

Try disconnecting all the speakers from the back and turn the unit back on. If the "protector" display goes away, turn the unit back off and reconnect one speaker. Turn it back on and check for "protector". Repeat.

If you find that one of the speakers causes "protector" to appear, you either have a bad speaker cable or bad speaker. Try swapping each of those out to see what happens.

Protector

It shows protector because the unit detects a short in the amp section of the unit. You will need to trouble shoot the amplifier section and replace the bad parts. If you have no solid state repair experience, my best advice would be to have a pro take a look at it for you. Good luck

Protet mode is a special diagnostic mode that starts when a fault is detected.

When in protection mode the unit is prevented from starting by protection circuit, so to prevent further damage.

Check the speakers and speakers wiring, a contact in speaker wires, or faulty speakers can send the unit in protection.

Try unplugging power cable for one hour or so. then connect cable back and see if you get rid of protect state. Sometimes accumulation of electrostatic charges inside circuit capacitors can kick in protect mode. In that case unplugging the unit from main for some times can get rid of electrostatic charges, and reset circuits by draining power completely.
If that was the problem, you will not get Protect when plugging back power cable.

If you do all the above and still get Protect, then there is a real fault.

In that case the unit may be disassembled and tested to find the fault.

If that is the case I suggest contacting the manufacturer at the number listed on the owners manual, or asking a quote on repair to a local technician.
