Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
When printing, every three pages the machine stops, and the dialogue box says "Cooling down-please wait a moment." But that means waiting about 3 minutes; and it happens for every three or four pages! What can I do? I am printing only black - no color at this time. Thanks
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hold the number 9 key and the key down at the same time, then pull the power cord. Then put the power cord back in while holding the 9 and # key. You will lose your settings, but the ink system failure message should go away.

It's mean "Print head not installed/Defective print head".First open cover and remove the ink cartridges. Then open holder and remove the print head.Clean the contacts on printer and print head using piece of cotton and some alcohol. Then put back all again. If the problem persist you need to replace the print head. It's part number now is QY6-0064, because the old QY6-0042 is discontinued.

My Canon printer has TWO slots for black ink cartridges. I assumed one was extra and didn't replace it when I ran out. Text printed just fine with only one installed, but my photos were printing with purple instead of black. I looked into it, and the two cartridges are different: one holds dye-based ink, the other has pigment based. Photos must require both kinds. If your printer is the same as mine, use both!

Check in the printer properties. You can access this from the printer setup option as you start to print. Click on the Properties button next to the drop down for selecting the printer. Then click on the Quality tab. Alternatively, you can do this from the Control Panel in Windows. Hit Start > Devices and Printers (Start > Settings > Printers on some of the older versions of Windows). Right click on the printer and select Properties or Left click (once) on the printer and choose File > Properties. Again look for the Quality tab. In the Quality tab, you will be able to toggle between the available resolutions. Click Apply to set the setting and then OK when done. (You can also adjust the darkness of the text with the Brightness and Contrast sliders on this tab).
I hope this helps.
