Nikon D90 won't turn on

I have had my D90 for six months and have had not had any problems till now.  Today I put three different fully charged EN-EL 3e batteries in my D90 and nothing comes up on the back screen or menu screen when i turn the camera on.  nothing works!!

I recently had the same problem with my 5 year old D70.

I called Nikon and they told me my sensor was probably shot (for some reason). I never dropped the camera or mis-used it. Naturally, it was out of warranty by then, but I still sent it to then for repairs and general overhaul. Cost was $230.00. (I probably could have bought another one on eBay for not much more.)

Anyhow, if you're still under warranty, you may want to give them a call and see what they can do for you.

SOURCE: Will an EN-EL3 battery function in a D90?

No. You do need an EL-EL3e.

The solution to your problem is simple, Kathrynbax.

The battery never comes in fully charged. It's always charged only so you may be able to check if your camera is working. I suggest, you take out your battery and put it to charge for exactly 90 minutes as the manual says. Then I'm sure you won't face any such problems.

Hope this solves your problem.

Good day!

try a different battery or use an external charger.... the battery could be faulty, or the camera charge function could be faulty.... a different battery will help you decide where the problem is.

Nikon D90 live view not working

The manual only gives the obvious things.
Is your battery fully charged.
You can select the time the monitor stays on c2. You even can select Monitor out c4. Check you did not select one of those.
The last thing you could try if nothing of the above works, is remove the battery and after a few seconds put it in again.
Last option, I'm sorry, but you should visit the dealer or Nikon suport center if nothing of this helps.

Nikon D90: Won't focus properly in automatic mode

Make sure the subject is well lit. The autofocus relies on differences in contrast to determine proper focus. Move to a well lit area or add additional light and attempt again.

Make sure the aperture ring on the lens (if that lens has one on it) is set to minimum (highest number - f22 etc.) This value it often a different color ink than the others to help speed locating it. On most Nikon & compatible lenses, when the aperture is set to minimum, the camera's main & sub command (thumb and finger) dials will control the aperture and shutter speed. When the shutter is held down 1/2 way, the aperture will open fully (to allow the most light in and speed composition) and then automatically stop down to the commanded value when fully depressed for the exposure. If you have the aperture set on the lens to something different - it may be preventing sufficent light from entering and interfere with the autofocus function.

Good luck!

Nikon d90. would a nikon sb25 flashgun work fully with the d90 camera

Not fully. It will work in non-TTL and manual modes, but it will not work in TTL mode. That is, it will work but not in fully automatic like the newer flash units.

Nikon D90 update

Depends on the urgency of your needs. A quick look at the timeline (very bottom of the wikipedia page - need to click "show" on timeline)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikon_D90

Would indicate that its almost come to the end of its two year lifespan, but it wasn't mentioned in the "leaked" (maybe!) document about the big plans for 2009/10.

http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/07/entire-nikon-2009-2010-dslr-product-roadmap-leaked/

However, I'd expect them to be doing something in August / September (for the Christmas market) as its the flagship of their mid range.

They only typically announce a month before it goes on general releae, and as none of the photo mags seem to be currently covering "even rumours" - I'd guess at later this year.

So, if you can wait six months......

Hope this is helpful

(Sorry to hear about your loss).

Nikon D90 battery reset

Seems as if you've killed the battery. You might try charging it again.

Does the camera work with a different battery? If so, I'd just buy a new battery and toss the old one.

Nikon D90 Memory Card Access Blinking

It's a deadly common problem of D90. Fixation:Simply go to the DSLR repair shop and ask them to change the power circuit board of the camera. Will take $60-70 if the board available. Reason of issue:The power control IC get short and feedback the battery power to the battery causing the draining out and other problem like the top LCD back lamp turned ON after turning on the camera. Careful:To avoid this issue in future, after full charge of the battery, do not put it in the camera right then. Wait for the battery to cool down for 5-10 min and then put it in. With the full charge, the battery hold high ampere for a short time. It could damage the power distributor IC suddenly if you put it in the camera right after a full charge. Best, Leo>>from personal experience<<
