Bad buzzing sound coming from under the lamp

I hope that someone can shed some light on this this problem. There is a buzzing noise coming from a fan I believe under the lamp in the back of the TV. I checked for any dust in that but it seems clear. I am not sure if this is a common problem and if I can replace the fan or whatever the item is myself or not. Thanks for any info you can give.

Not sure if you found an answer, but your bulb is going bad. Hope you've got it changed out by now...

My WD-52525 started a rubbing noise coming from the back area. I figure it's the light engine. Color was off and it won't restart, has a lamp light now. Lamp is 4 months old. Sound like light engine?

This sounds like your color wheel. this will affect the colors on your screen. Do check your lamp though, at 4 months you still should have a good lamp. Unless you have a bad ballast affecting the lamp as well. If you hear a rapid clicking or an electrical buzzing type noise. "ballast"

It sounds like you have a bad color wheel--it will give a fan like noise before it fails--some describe it as a high pitched whine--if it shattered the set will shut down. It faces the lamp for your set--about 2 inch in diameter with colored segments colored like a pie--this model uses 2 different wheels--label on side of set will give full model number and version number---part is about 130 on Ebay and it requires the light engine to be removed to replace it--takes about 40 minutes--I have seen dozens of these with this problem--you can research it by taking the model number and Google it--lots of sites have general instructions for replacing it---I get lots of them local where someone buys the color wheel and has me come out and replace it(I usually charge 100 for trip and labor to replace it) bottom line is a shop will try to charge you 400 for this repair---but if you can buy it and find someone to do the labor you can repair the set for a reasonable price.

I have a 55 inch Hitachi HDTV it is around 3 years old. as of yesterday it was working fine and today it will not turn on. when i press power button i get a buzzing noise and it sounds like it wants to...

If you hear the Lamp fan turn, it is probably the lamp it self that has failed. If you do not hear the lamp fan turn then the fan could be bad or binding.
Hope this helps,

I have owned a Sony Grand Wega for about 3 years now and for the past few months the TV has been making a very loud noise. I thought the noise was the fan but came to find out it was not the fan and was...

There is a fan beside the lamp chamber in this TV. There should be 4 fans total, and the one beside the lamp chamber might be making some noise. They are all bearingless fans, so the noise should be relatively low-pitched "whirr" if it is the fan. If the noise is more of a buzzing sound, it could be coming from the lamp driver (ballast) or from the lamp itself. Lamps tend to do strange things toward the end of their life.

If you have never changed the lamp, it is about time. They have a 2.5 -3 year life span with average use.

One thing you can try is to turn the TV on from a cold start, and watch inside the vent areas beside the lamp chamber. If you hear the noise before you see the lamp light up, then it is probably a fan. If it starts as soon as you see the lamp light up, it is the lamp or ballast.

Hope this helps you...

Toshiba 56HM195 56 in HD DLP Loud Buzzing and color distortion

If the sound, sounds more like a Hum with some vibration chances are the Cooling fan located behind the lamp is going bad, about $20 to repair, if its a high pitch hum most likely the Color Wheel and if thats the case about $30.
Good luck, my fan just went bad now seeing green dots everywhere, so debating on just junking it out or fixing it, with winter coming on might just breakdown and buy LCD and say the heck with DLP from now on.
Good luck to you..

A friend of mine does warranty work for samsung ,name is chip call him if you need too! 256-778-0300, most of the time when lamp needs replacing set will not play, the fan behind lamp is there to keep lamp cool when playing ,DO NOT touch lamp if you do this will leave fringer print and lamp will burn your inprint on it when hot!!! then you will have to replace lamp ,they are not cheap.replacing lamp is fairly easy, besides i really dont think lamp is your problem, most likely it would be fan making noise.

Zenith E44W46LCD 44 in. Rear won't start

The buzzing is the ballast for the lamp trying to light the bulb. From what you've described it is a lamp failure. It's not that hard to change but you'll have to obtain a new lamp first. You can try and buy it from LG (800-243-0000) but I'm not sure if they'll sell to a consumer. Then you have to reset the lamp timer after you replace it. Hold the mute on the remote and the enter button on the tv at the same time for about 8 seconds and a screen will come up asking if you want to reset the timer. Just follow what it says to reset it.
