Read as per mentioned in the manual about the talking called id system:---- Talking Caller ID This feature lets you know who is calling without looking at the display. To use this feature, you must: – subscribe to Caller ID service of your service provider/telephone company.
Voice mail service Voice mail is an automatic answering service offered by your service provider/telephone company. After you subscribe to this service, your service provider/telephone company’s voice mail system answers calls for you when you are unavailable to answer the phone or when your line is busy. Messages are recorded by your service provider/telephone company, not your telephone. Please contact your service provider/telephone company for details of this service. Important: L To use the voice mail service provided by your service provider/telephone company rather than the unit’s answering system, turn off the answering system Storing the voice mail (VM) access number In order to listen to your voice mail messages, you must dial your service provider/telephone company’s voice mail access number. Once you have stored your voice mail access number, you can dial it automatically (page 41). 1 {MENU} i {#}{3}{3}{1} 2 Enter your access number (32 digits max.). i {Save} i {OFF} Note: L When storing your voice mail access number and your mailbox password, press {PAUSE} to add pauses (page 17) between the access number and the password as necessary. Contact your service provider/telephone company for the required pause time. Example: To erase the voice mail access number 1 {MENU} i {#}{3}{3}{1} 2 Press and hold {Clear} until all digits are erased. i {Save} i {OFF} Voice mail (VM) tone detection Your service provider/telephone company sends special signals (sometimes called “voice mail tones” or “stutter tones”) to the unit to let you know you have new voice mail messages. If you hear a series of dial tones followed by a continuous dial tone after you press {C}, you have new voice mail messages. Minutes after you hang up a call or after the phone stops ringing, your unit checks the phone line to see if new voice mail messages have been recorded. Turn this feature off when: – You do not subscribe to voice mail service. – Your service provider/telephone company does not send voice mail tones. – Your phone is connected to a PBX. If you are not sure which setting is required, contact your service provider/telephone company. Turning VM tone detection on/off The default setting is “On”. 1 {MENU} i {#}{3}{3}{2} 2 {V}/{^}: Select the desired setting. i {Save} i {OFF} 1-222-333-4444 VM access number Pauses Password PPPP 8888

Sounds like it may be a set ring tone. Have you looked into this? If not, go into the ring tone settings and change them and let me know how that works out.

To reset the system unplug all the base unit from power for a couple of minutes, if handset batteries are removable , then also remove the batteries from handsets at the same time.
This will reset the system completely.

Please call your phones service provider, they may charge for this service. Just because the phone is capable of caller ID function doesn't mean it is a free service.

Display for Caller Id incorrect

After calling Panasonic US at 1800-211-PANA (7262) regarding my kx-tga5420 and kx-tg5230 system's handsets.

On the handset, verify that Caller ID Edit is turned on first.
Menu-->Initial settings
Go to Caller ID edit
Select Auto edit ON
Save
Exit the menu

On the handset main display
Hit the button that relates to CID
Scroll down until you find the desired 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx number that you want to
be displayed as xxx-xxx-xxxx
Hit the edit key until you see the number displayed as xxx-xxx-xxxx
Save
(Note: You have to initial a call once you have saved the change.)

Now hit the TALK button to dial this number

Now when you receive calls from this number it wll show as xxx-xxx-xxxx instead of 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx.

KX-TG6071M 5.8 GHz talking caller id not working

Hi trinigirl, You should not have to do anything to make the caller id information come through. There is no programming to perform for the regular caller id identification on your display after the second ring (it takes at least one ring cycle for the digital information to pass through). Your model also has the talking caller id function, which will announce in English the callers name or a custom name you can prepare in the phone book of handset number 1. With all that said, you are not getting caller id showing after the second ring, then your phone is bad (which is pretty rare for this symptom), or your phone line still does not have caller id activated. To troubleshoot your problem you need another phone line with working caller id and/or a different phone that is known good to pass caller id. That way you can interchange the phones/lines to see if it is your line or your phone. My guess it is your line somehow, though I have fixed phones that won't pass caller id, but rarely. If it is your phone, try rebooting it, thats about all you can do short of sending it in for repair. Let me know how it goes. CG
