According to the manufacturers specifications, this motherboard only officially supports up to 1.5 GB or RAM. It is also VERY important to remember that all RAM must be the same speed, any variation will most likely cause you some problems.

Got an AsRock P4i65G mobo and bought 2 gig RAM for it. However, I have bought ECC memory by mistake instead of Non-ECC. PC wont boot with the new RAM. Is there any way I can get this to work such as with...

Hi, you can download a manual here:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?model=p4i65g

Your mainboard DOES NOT SUPPORT ECC RAM.
This ram type is ONLY intended for servers
or mainboards that are compatible for that ram type.

This is what your mainboard supports:

Dual Channel DDR memory technology
- 2 x DDR DIMM slots
- Supports DDR400/333/266 non-ECC, un-buffered memory
- Max. capacity of system memory: 2GB

Use only the asrock site when upgrading the bios.
And a bios upgrade does not supports the ecc ram anyway.

Hope this will help you.

The Kingston memory web site is an excellent source of memory spec information even if you don't buy their memory.

For the SK8N motherboard, they provide information on restrictions here: (click here)

Read the System Information tab to make sure that you're using the proper memory speed for the processor that you are using.

Ecc ram in compaq Evo d300 won't work, is there a Ram setting in bios?... updated bios to 3.04

Hello mike59087, if you are having a problem with the 'RAM,' you should check to see if the 'System' support "ECC RAM." Next check to see if ie; you added more 'RAM' what type of RAM did you have in the computer before. You should see if the System is compatible with the different "Type: DDR, DDR2, DDR3, 512MB, 1GB, or 2GB; what is the [Maxium] RAM supported? Are the "Speeds different? 333Mhz, 2.1 GHz, 3.2 GHz... Is the RAM, Dual Layer, Double-sided... For the 'best performance; all RAM should be the 'same speed, from the 'same' manufacturer, the "total amount to add up to the "Maxium" supported RAM, and the 'same type: DDR, DDR2, or DDR3... Take a look at this website, it will give you a "quick scan, to see the type of RAM that is best to use with your 'system. Ram upgrade issue msi 845 pro motherboard

you should check bios for the ram settings, voltage and speed, they will be printed on the package the ram came in.

also, you don't want to mix ram up, they will run at the slowest ones speed.

also, most ram is used in pairs (2 at a time) using the 3, depending on the motherboard will give you errors.

try entering the bios on boot, and set the ram setting properly. you should see something that flashes on boot, like press f8 or del for bios. change your ram settings, save and exit. type back with your motherboard and ram model numbers if this solution did not work.
