Re: can't put ink in printer
You may have the wrong model ink cartridge for the printer, the ink model required is HP 21 and 22. Be sure you have the correct positioning to insert the cartridge, the longest flat end shoudl face up, and the smaller 'bump' should be pointing down and be on the end that goes in first.

Yeah, as I am a victim to this very same problem, the other guys are right. The metal spring that is part of the ink carriage becomes a hole punch for the ribbon cable right behind the unit. Now you have a useless printer that you think has faulty ink cartridges, but in fact it's a faulty printer. Because of this design flaw, HP should compensate each and everyone of us, no matter how long ago the purchase of the printer was. I bought mine in 2006 for over $600 and for such a little thing that will break at some point, causes such a huge problem. It's caused by you putting the ink cartridges into the unit. You don't have to be aggressive with the install for the failure to occur, normal installs will cause the same affect. My suggestion to you my friend is to put it up for auction on eBay and use that money for a new printer. Gots me a HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus that was 1/3 the cost of the 7410, with pretty much the same features and more!
my hp office jet pro l7500 indicates the ink has expired in all cartages but the cartgages are new because they were just put in . Before the same error code came up and so bought new cartages. Also the door to the cartages will not stay closed without tape.
