The tv screen is green

It stays green while using and it stays normal color when not used. If i was to turn it to line 1 it will be blue. If i watch movies or play video games it turns green and i have tried to mess with the color and other stuff.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Blue convergence bows when watching tv, hdtv looks great

Below are two of the most common problems encountered with projection TV sets.

Problem #1 - CONVERGENCE PROBLEM

Projection TV2_bing.gif sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung2_bing.gif, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit from the link below.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

49abec3.jpg
f0add3d.jpg

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash2_bing.gif focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

93a1209.pngCONVERGENCE SOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.

This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from www.TvRepairKits.com

Red, green and blue colours diveded on my TV

ok well "tube" tellys as they are called use an electro magnet to keep the picture stable and colours correct its called gaussing now if you have a speaker or something magnetic nearby it will stuff up the colors but only normally producing colors like purple, green, or white
if you have colors across the screen (that aren't caused by magnetic force) then you need to take it to a repairer or decide wether or not to buy a new one this issue can turn out to be quite hard to fix and can be expensive the different colored electron guns may be burning or burnt out causing pale color or it could be as simple as a power transistor in the H.V supply has shorted out..and causing power issues to the tube.
hope this helps,ben

i am not sure these is going to work but give it a try. after useing the tv for a long time you can get a problem with the lineing of the three picture colors may drift away from each other causeing the problem you have, they move because of moveing the tv or the viberation of the tv.  you can to one of two things if you have a remote for the tv go to the menu and look for the convergence adj. setting then you are going to get close to you tv and press the small but the says the same thing now on the screen you are going to see a grid the you can fix youself with the remote just by pressing the up, down, left, rigth buttons and the menu button to change the color, to aline the red line and blue line with the middle line till you get only a white line going up and down  if the doesn't work just unplugg th power cord and what for about 4 hours and then plug it in and turn it on again. if after you do all these if you still have the problem then you either have two choices call to see how much it will cost to repair it or toss it out and get a new one

My apex pf2725 tv screen is green

Hi,

Your posted/describe symptom seems to be that the green color drive is defective. The "lines going across" are flyback retrace lines brought about by the safe problem.

The corrective procedure would be to replace. In most TV units, color drive are three (3) identical transistors: for the blue, green and red. They are normally located at a small squarish PCB attached to pins of the CRT right at the rear end of the neck. More often, they are heatsinked. Repair should be a straightforward desoldering the defective component and replacing with a new one.

In some versions, color drive is a single IC power pack.

Still, it is also possible that the problem may be due to cold solder on any or all of the pins of the above describe transistor (or IC).

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
