All In one Dell printer 926 can't get it to send a fax. There's no place for a phone line to be hooked into it and it tells me there's no phone line but I have dsl and the phone line for home phone and dsl...

You can find information on your product here:

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?docid=266274#Issue0_3

I recommend you check to make sure you have the most current drivers for your PC modem and that you also download the User Guide for your printer for the guidance on using your printer to send and receive faxes.

You need to setup your system to use the modem in your PC.

Here is how your system should be setup:

Note that you will need a DSL filter on the phone line to your computer.

HOW TO EMAIL SCANNED DOCUMENTS FROM HP J4580 DIRECTLY?

It is not possible to email the scanned file directly through the printer. However, you may send fax over the Internet

You may subscribe to a low cost phone service that allows you to send and receive faxes with your device by using the Internet. This method is called Fax over Internet Protocol (FoIP). You probably use a FoIP service (provided by your telephone company) if you:
• Dial a special access code along with the fax number, or
• Have an IP converter box that connects to the Internet and provides analog phone ports for the fax connection.

NOTE: You can only send and receive faxes by connecting a phone cord to the port labeled "1-LINE" on the device. This means that your connection to the Internet must be done either through a converter box (which supplies regular analog phone jacks for fax connections) or your telephone company.

Some Internet faxing services do not work properly when the device is sending and receiving faxes at high speed (33600bps). If you experience problems sending and receiving faxes while using an Internet fax service, use a slower fax speed. You can do this by changing the Fax Speed setting from High (the default) to Medium. For information on changing this setting, see Set the fax speed. If you have questions about internet faxing, contact your internet faxing services
support department.

(Ref from the manual of the printer.)

Hope this helps.

Sending and receiving fax on legal size paper on

What's the question? You can send a fax on legal size exactly as you do with lettersize. As for printing, you only have 1 size of paper available at a time (1 paper source) , so put legal in it if you want.

Fax won't send

Hallejuia!!! Someone from the Dell community forum posted this....it worked!!!

Yes. It has something to do with the time change. I had to go into the time in my pc and manually adjust (take off automatic daylight savings) the time. Once you do this you need to restart your system. That should take care of the issue.

Fax

Faxing from the 926 is a pretty straight forward process.
Put your document into the document feeder (or if is only one page, put it in the scanner area)
In the menu arrow down to FAX in the menu, enter the number you want to fax to, and push START.

That will scan the document, dial the number and send the fax.

There are additional options for faxing (like delayed fax, and a number of other options which can be found in the owners manual)
