Question about Husqvarna Yard Tractor
When going up hill this lawn tractor slows down and does not have the same pull as it use to. The drive belt has been replaced and the motor seems to be running OK or as expected. My guess is that the transmission is on it's way out. The tractor was purchased in 2009. So in 4 to 5 years the transmission could go? How to you know for sure that its a transmission issue?

sorry. I don't have an ansewer for you however I might have some helpful hints. Your mower should be going dam near 5 MPH. But yes can't cut in reverse. you have a belt going from the trans axle to the motor. It could be slapping against the frame. The idler puller or the tension pulley could be wobaly where the bearings are gone out. If you remove the 4 bolts on the back of the mower under the seat and gas tank it should visable tell you the story. My question is mine hits gears real hard as if trans mission needs oil or internal damage.

SOURCE: Hydrostatic drive is weak
Try pulling back on the left foot pedal. This manually adjusts the drive belt tension and is a sign that the engine pulley has worn to the point the belt looses traction. A local repairman told me this last week and mine works fine now although in the very near future I'll need to replace the pully. Good luck

those fluid drive transmissions fail on quite a few brands as they all use the same ones....replace the trans...they are expensive but still cheaper than a new mower.

Hello aka.... begin by checking the transmission fluid level. Fill it to just slightly above full when the tractor is sitting on the level. This will maximize your power. IF this alone does not solve your problem I recommend changing the fuel filter and the air filter and also adding a fuel additive called seafoam which will clean the internal engine parts. Joe
