SOURCE: New radio
Assuming no hardware faults, start with the basics, on powering on the radio:
1. RG Gain max clockwise;
2. Ch 9/NOR to Normal;
3. Delta Tune to mid position;
4. CB/PA to CB;
5. Squelch to minimum counter clockwise;
6. Channel selector to desired channel.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Wilson makes the best antennas & they offer 4 with magnetic mounts:
Little Wil, 3' long, least expensive
Wilson 500, 5' long, mid-priced
Wilson 1000, 68" long, more expensive
Wilson 5000, 68" long, overkill
I personally use the 500 & it's great. Keep in mind that the antenna is the most important part of a CB system & you get what you pay for.

MAKE SURE THE ANTENNA IS NOT CONNECTED, THEN TRY AND SEE IF RADIO POWERS UP, IF IT DOES NOT THEN YOU DO NOT HAVE PROPER GROUND
ALSO ARE YOU USING THE COBRA STOCK MIC ?
ALSO MAKE SURE THE RADIO IS ON CB MODE NOT WEATHER MODE

the shielded coax rgu-45 series is probably the best one for this application also if you run the radio to a different fuse or u can also get a surpression filter that goes on the coax line I own a WL9000 KW. i had the same problem untill i got the filter installed at a loves truck stop in texas and no more problems since ok?
drive safe and best regards mike (warner transp.)

It is possible that the RF final in your radio is blown. The only way to verify this is to purchase an SWR Meter. This will tell how much power you are putting out and how mauch power is being reflected back into the radio. The other option is to go to a CB Shop and let them check your radio and antenna system out.
