SOURCE: New radio

Hi,

Assuming no hardware faults, start with the basics, on powering on the radio:
1. RG Gain max clockwise;
2. Ch 9/NOR to Normal;
3. Delta Tune to mid position;
4. CB/PA to CB;
5. Squelch to minimum counter clockwise;
6. Channel selector to desired channel.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: cb antenna

Wilson makes the best antennas & they offer 4 with magnetic mounts:

Little Wil, 3' long, least expensive
Wilson 500, 5' long, mid-priced
Wilson 1000, 68" long, more expensive
Wilson 5000, 68" long, overkill

I personally use the 500 & it's great. Keep in mind that the antenna is the most important part of a CB system & you get what you pay for.

SOURCE: Cobra 75 WX ST powers on but does not work

MAKE SURE THE ANTENNA IS NOT CONNECTED, THEN TRY AND SEE IF RADIO POWERS UP, IF IT DOES NOT THEN YOU DO NOT HAVE PROPER GROUND
ALSO ARE YOU USING THE COBRA STOCK MIC ?
ALSO MAKE SURE THE RADIO IS ON CB MODE NOT WEATHER MODE

SOURCE: I dont get any range on my cb. I used to have over

It is possible that the RF final in your radio is blown. The only way to verify this is to purchase an SWR Meter. This will tell how much power you are putting out and how mauch power is being reflected back into the radio. The other option is to go to a CB Shop and let them check your radio and antenna system out.

My cb radio is on but cant hear nothing sound is turn up but nothing come out

You didn't include the make / model CB you have, so I can only offer general suggestions. If these do not work, please provided the missing info.

Start out by locating and setting the the Volume to a position between 1/4 and 1/2 way clockwise, the Squelch to fully counter-clockwise and the "RF Gain" to fully clockwise to "MAX".

Check the position of the "PA / CB" switch and set to CB. When set to PA, both receive and transmit audio is sent directly to an outdoor speaker (instead of through the transmitter and antenna for reception by other radios). The PA speaker is usually connected to a jack at the rear of the radio. When the PA / CB switch is selected, the internal speaker is silenced even if there is no PA speaker connected.

At this point, you should hear static or voices (with an antenna connected). Do not attempt to transmit without a properly tuned antenna connected. If no sound is heard, there's something else wrong.

I have a Galaxy DX33 HML. I want get as much output power and receive as possible with being pushed to the limits. What mods would you do without over doing it?

Your radio will only do 11 watts out of the box. The antenna has alot to do with your range along with a few other factors. I normally suggest using a Wilson trucker 1000 antenna on tractor rigs. and a larson Antenna on regular cars and trucks. There is one other thing you can do to increase your power. Purchase an RFX75 on Ebay and have a local cb shop install it for you. this will increase your power to about 80 - 100 watts PEP.

Vibrations on the small cb's make the internal circuit boards come loose and its intermitted or will not RX or TX.. Check the antenna with another cb. using an SWR METER.. or have someone check it.. SWR should be free if you take it to them.. to check.. Make sure the antenna, mounts, and coax are ok.. if soo then its in the cb itself .. Email us if you need more help or need the radio looked at, the post office has flat rate boxes cheap nowadays. were in Temple, TX at the CB SHop.

When you talk into the microphone your voice which is sound pressure is converted to electrical voltages then it is increased in power to about half of the power of what the CB will sen out to the antenna. To make the CB radio transmit, there is a circuit that creates the proper frequency or channel. It is then increased to about twice the power of the voice circuit. They are combined together just before it goes into the antenna.It leaves the radio and goes into the antenna where it leaves the antenna as an electromagnetic wave. Electricity in the air with a certain value of frequency and strength. When the CB receives, The antenna picks up a signal, an electromagnetic wave, as it passes by. The electromagnetic wave, which is a small voltage, with a certain frequency and strength, enters the radio where it is processed . It is then increased in power . It is now connected to a speaker. The speaker is also a converter. It converts electrical voltage back to sound pressure so we can hear it. As the electrical voltages make the cone of the speaker move in and out. There is a lot more detail than this but this should help. Many things happen inside the radio that cant be explained in a few paragraphs.

Sounds to me like your finals in the rig have blown stopping you using the CB mode, Either that or you have a loose connection on the power output inside the radio.

Cb feedback though external am/fm speakers

Hi Big OX,

Terrible problem.  I know what your going though.  Route your AM/FM Antenna wire, and Speaker wires separate from the  CD Antenna cable and power supply wires. If you can,  twist the speaker wires.  If the Speaker wires are run along side the CB Antenna wire for a short distance, you will pickup feedback. If you much have the Antenna wire get near the speaker wires, have the antenna wire cross the speaker wire at a 90 degree angle. Try not to run the antenna wire in paralell with the speaker wires.   Good luck
