Turn on dvd player Go to setup Select Initial setting Move cursor down to Options but do not press enter on your DVD remote (just underlay it) Then press display button on DVD remote When region code information is shown on screen Put in the number 3690 on your DVD remote The dvd player will automatically switch off When restarting it is all regions and working fine.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

DVD players designed for the US are set for Region 1 and cannot be used with DVD's that are from other regions such as Great Britain and most of Europe which use Region 2 DVD's . What you need is a "Region Free" player which plays all regions or a player that plays your specific region. We live in the US but watch many British DVD series so use.a Region Free player as they are Region 2 and we are in Region 1.
maybe you can return the player or at least get some sort of credit for it towards the correct region player. If you are unsure of your region, just Google it.
If you mean to play DVD’s that you may have purchased in another country the see below
For that you need to do a Google for "mymodel region free" or "region free hack"
Not all DVD players are capable of this often very simple modification that many manufacturers build into DVD player. (Usually just involves the remote control and a combination of keys)
Your search will turn up a lot of sharks that want money for the hack (fix)
There are a lot of sites where the information is free.
I am STILL (lauren) unsure of FIXYA's policy on this topic and am awaiting further clarification on the issue with regards to handing out these codes as this is not HACKING in the same sense as pirate software etc. it is just enabling an extra feature that the manufacturer provided. I would prefer not to get my @ss kicked. That is why I can only give you the search terms rather than site links or specific information
Press the Open button on your Onkyo DVD-player to Open the drive tray. Using the remote press 9, 9, 9 and 9 on your remote control. Press the 1 button on your remote control for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or 9 for multi-region. Press OK and the tray will close. Reset the unit by powering Off and then back On again.
