Can't ping or access modem through dir-600l

Your cable modem is a normal home use cable modem. You do not need to configure your modem. Your ISP will send the information needed to the modem once it has been registered to their systems. With most cable ISP you should be able to connect the modem to the cable and gain access to the modem registration. NOTE: You must sign up for service first.

If you wish to access your modem page then you will have to change the WAN IP address to something like 192.168.100.25. Do not use 192.168.100.1 nor 192.168.100.255. Once done you will then be able to access your modem's web page.

Need to allow a telnet session thru a speedstream 5660 modem/router having a public ip and allow it to connect to a private ip on the internal LAN. how do i accomplish this?

According to the user manual:
Page 16:

HTTP Web-browser Access

Most HTML browsers can be used, though Internet Explorer 4.0 or Netscape 4.0 are recommended. IE 2.0 and Netscape 2.0 and their predecessors are not supported. The HTML interface can be used to access the LAN (or WAN) IP address or it can be used with FTP to upload and download files to and from the router.

To log on to the modem via HTML:

1 Bring up your favorite web browser.

2 Enter the Ethernet IP address of the router (10.0.0.1 or Speedstream) in the "Location" or "Address" area where you enter web page addresses.

3 Refer to "HTML Web Interface" on page 20.

Page 20:

HTML Web Interface

The HTML interface for the router first displays a page showing the current configuration of the router. The first page also provides links to the following functions:

.

.

.

Advanced Setup

Leads to a more detailed interface with several links that allow more in-depth configuration of functions available on the router. This interface provides the following links:

Configuration Procedures

Status and Statistics

Command List

This is where the user manual ends. I would suggest clicking "Configuration Procedures" and find the section for configuring Network Address Translation (NAT).
In that section (if it exists), you'll want to provide the private IP address of the computer running the Telnet server and forward port 23 to this IP address.
If NAT capabilities do not exist, I would consider changing the router to Gateway mode (described in the user manual) and buying your own router to handle the NAT firewall.

My linksys w/2phone ports cannot hook up with the ethernet

Most Cable Internet Service Providers (ISPs) use Media Access Control (MAC) Address authentication to establish Internet connection for end-users. MAC address is a unique identifier assigned to the network adapter/s of the computer.
To set up your Linksys router to work with a Cable ISP, you have to enable the MAC Clone feature of the router. MAC Cloning is a procedure which enables a router to copy the MAC address of the computer registered with the ISP.
To set up a Linksys router with Cable connection, you need to perform four steps using the computer that's been registered with the ISP:
i. Verifying Internet Connection
ii. Connecting the Devices Together
iii. Checking the Router's LEDs
iv. Setting Up a Linksys Router for Cable Internet Connection

Verifying Internet Connection
Connect the computer to the Broadband modem using an Ethernet cable without the router installed. If you cannot get online, contact your ISP. If it's online, use the computer to set up the router.
NOTE: Some cable modems use the USB port. If the physical connection is via USB port, you may not be able to go online via Ethernet connection. Contact your ISP to have the Ethernet port of the modem configured.

kb17251-001_en.png NOTE: The image may vary depending on the computer and modem you're using.
Connecting the Devices Together
After confirming the Internet connection through the modem, connect the modem to the Internet port of the router; connect the computer to any of the four Ethernet ports at the back of the router. For instructions, click here.
Checking the Router's LEDs
After connecting the devices together, check the lights on the front panel of the router. Ensure that the Internet light, as well as numbered light corresponding to the Ethernet port where the computer is connected, is lit. For further instructions, click here.
Setting Up a Linksys Router for Cable Internet Connection

Step 1:
Access the router's web-based setup page. For instructions, click here.

NOTE: If you are using a Mac computer to access the router's web-based setup page, click here.

Step 2:
On the Setup tab, click the MAC Address Clone sub-tab.

kb17251-002_en.png

Step 3:
Select Enabled then click Clone My PC's MAC.

kb17251-003_en.png

Step 4:
Click Save Settings.

Step 5:
Click the Status tab.

kb17251-004_en.png

Step 6:
Check the Internet IP Address. If the Internet IP Address has numbers, this means the router has been properly configured. You should now be able to access the Internet. If you're still unable to access the Internet, powercycle the modem, the router and then restart the computer.

kb17251-005_en.png

NOTE: If the IP address is still 0.0.0.0, click IP Address Release then, click IP Address Renew. If this does not change the IP Address, powercycle the modem, the router and then restart the computer.

I need to get into my nat settings

All Linksys routers have a built-in web-based setup page that allows the user to customize settings and set up advanced properties.

NOTE: Before accessing the router's web-based setup page, make sure the router is powered on and the computer is wired to one of the Ethernet ports on the router (1, 2, 3 or4 ).

How do I find out my Hughes HN 9000 modem ip address?

http://www.viasatelital.com/manuales/Instalacion-HN9000.pdf

Accessing the System Control Center
To open the System Control Center on a web browser installed on a computer that is connected to the satellite modem,
double-click the System Control Center shortcut on your computer desktop, or follow these steps:
1. Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape.
2. In the browser address bar, type www.systemcontrolcenter.com or 192.168.0.1 and press Enter.
Note: To use 192.168.0.1, the satellite modem must be configured for a private address, and DHCP must be
enabled on the computer.
The System Control Center home page appears as shown in Figure 8: System Control Center home page on page
9.
If you are unable to access the System Control Center, refer to Cannot Access the System Control Center on page
34.
Creating a shortcut to the System Control Center
You can create a Windows shortcut on your computer desktop for easy access to the System Control Center home page.
Note: As part of the installation process, the person who installed your satellite modem creates a shortcut to the
System Control Center, so there should already be a shortcut on your desktop—unless it has been deleted.
1. Open a web browser.
Note: The method described here works for Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. It may work with other
browsers.
2. Type www.systemcontrolcenter.com or 192.168.0.1 in the browser address bar and press Enter.
Note: To use 192.168.0.1, the satellite modem must be configured for a private IP address, and DHCP must
be enabled on the computer.

SBG 900 SECURITY

you probably need to access the web management function for this modem. Using a PC connected to the modem, open a web browser and type into the address bar the address of the router/modem/gateway. This is usually 192.168.0.1 or 10.0.0.1 or 10.1.1.1. If you cannot find this information, find the status of your ethernet connection on your computer (where it tells you you computer's IP and time connected etc). Here you will find a number labeled "Gateway" this is the number you want to type into your web browser.  Once you get this correct you will be prompted for a username and password (by default it will be admin, admin) then you should have access to the configuration of the modem.
Write back if you're unsure of any steps

No access to set up modem or router

you might have configured your lan settings wrongly.

If your modem was setup for DHCP then you configure your lan to receive IP address automatically, DNS automatically.

If DHCP is disabled on the modem, you have to USE static IP Address for your lan ip and default gateway should be your modem default ip.

the default IP for modem is usually 192.168.1.1
if DHCP is disabled on the modem the sys ip is 192.168.1.3

So Configure your LAN setting as follow and Type http://192.168.1.1 in the address url.

Lan Settings:
IP Address: 192.168.1.3
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

click ok.
and type the above url, press enter the modem will ask you for username and password.

Good Luck.
