Get a new backlight, inverter is probably ok.

The way to check that the inverter is ok:

disconnect the backlight and if you hear a high pitched noise, the inverter is still good.

replacement backlight is available from a company called Being Seen Technologies.

there website is www.beingseen.com

No backlight on raymarine E120

You may have inadvertently turned the backlighting off. Ray marine has an extensive library on-line. I have usually been able to find what I need there. May take some digging though.

S1 pilot, on install burnt out seatalk circuit

You are still OK, if it smoked out of box, call Raymarine and yell and they should send you a replacement course computer. Also, there are two SeaTalk circuits, so maybe one still works? I have a replacement brain in stock if you like. 847-746-0100.

as far as i know, the electric motor is not available. Replace it with a Furuno or Simrad pump (Acusteer) and you will have a sevice-able item.

Sounds like the backlight has burned out. It happens, and suddenly just like you described. Just in case, try doing a master reset by powering the unit on while holding doen the 1st softkey (the one on the bottom left closest to the power button). If that doesnt work, send it in to Raymarine for repair.

Installation raymarine st6002

The power cable of your 2106 acts as a data cable also. You should find additional unused wires on the cable. Locate the brown and blue wires. You will need to connect the brown wire to the "NMEA OUT +" terminal on the autopilot course computer and connect the blue wire to the "NMEA IN +" terminal on the course computer. Finally, connect the "NMEA OUT -" and the "NMEA IN -" to ground (preferably the same place that the Garmin is grounded (black wire). Be sure that the Garmin interface is set up for NMEA In / NMEA Out. That should get you going!
