SOURCE: no heat

If there is no heat during drying cycle, it is usually either the heating element, or a thermal fuse.

See the following suggestions from repairclinic:

If your dryer doesn't heat, check these:

Heating element
Thermal fuse
Wiring

Heating element Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Dryer suddenly shrinking clothes

The machine has two issues that could cause this:
1. As heating elements age, they got hotter before they burn out.
2. There is a thermostat on the heater element enclosure that controls the heat, this might be going bad.

If you open the panel to see the heating element, there should be a tech sheet in the machine that has temps listed for different settings.
While you are in there, you need to clean it out. It probably has a lot of lint in the machine and this can cause a fire hazard.
The way that you test it is to put a load of damp clothes in the machine and set it and then take the temp at the outlet. You need to use a meat thermometer to check the output temp. Use the chart on the tech sheet to tell if the thermostat is working right. Also it goes without saying that you should unplug the machine for most of this.

The machine heats up, ( the clothes are steaming), but they are not getting dry. It is to the point where you can dry one towel at a time ... don't know if it is an easy fix my husband can sort out, or if...

It sounds like the heating element is partially burned out. If the element is partially burned out, the dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it. Make sure all duct work is clean.
Although it is not a common problem, the cycling thermostat could be bad, one of the thermostats that controls the heat in the dryer may break and cause the dryer to heat poorly. The thermostat is usually a small, round, black device that is mounted to an oblong steel plate. The plate is mounted to the internal duct work with two screws. Hope this helped. Good luck.

Extremely low drum heat but setting is on HIGH.

Electric (Kenmore - 60931) dryer takes forever (several cycles) lately to dry clothes set on high heat (actual heat in tub feels low though). There are no obstructions in the venting and the 240 volt connection is fine. The timer rotates the dial (timer motor working). Help!!!
