How to attach bontrager pump to presta valve

This pump does not need any presta valve adapter, the head unit is a dual unit for both presta and schreader.

1. On the bicycle tube. Open the valve by unthreading the small metal cylinder located at the very end of the valve stem. DO NOT force the the bead to come off of its threading. A couple spins counter clockwise will do the trick.

2. Insert the valve stem into the filler head. The lever on the back of the filler head should be "down" at this time.

3. Connect the filler head to the valve stem by lifting the lever on the head "up".

4. The valve stem and the handle on the filler head are now in parallel to each other, basically inline with each other.

5. START PUMPING.

6. If loosing considerable air while pumping, Try reinserting the valve in to the filler head, deeper, for a more secure fit.

If the issue persists, use a presta valve adapter on the valve stem. Traditionally used to convert presta valve heads to schreader heads, for use with filler heads not compatable with presta. A one dollar part available at any bike shop. Usually used in a pinch while airing up at gas stations or with schreader only pumps.

My innertube leaks air and i am no familiar with the air intake device on it

There are two kinds of valve on bicycle tubes, Presta and Schrader. You are probably more familiar with Schrader because this is the type used on cars and most bikes. And I am guessing that you have Presta on this bike (Presta is skinnier than Schrader, and it has a little nut that you unscrew, where Schrader has a spring inside it. Google images for "Presta Schrader" and you will see both kinds, and you will also see a little screw-on adaptor that you can use on a Presta to make it fit your pump or air-hose like a Schrader. You can buy these adapters on-line or at any bike store. Good luck!

Im trying to figure out how to inflate the trek 4900 tire, its not your normal valve stem and i havent found anyone that know please help me?

Where did you look? Search for "inflate bicycle tire" or "inflate presta valve".

Search engines work for most common questions - immediately.

How do i set up the pump to inflate a presta valve tyre?

If it is not a Presta pump, then you will need an adapter. These adapters usually run for less than a dollar and are easy to use. You can just screw it onto the Presta valve and then it converts it to a Schrader. You can see what they look like HERE. They should be available at any bicycle, camping or hiking store. Good luck and be safe riding! (Helmets are your friend)

How do you inflate this tube with the presta valve?

The following link is a good explanation of inflating a presta valved tube if you have a pump with a presta valve head.

If you have an older pump that does not have a presta valve head, you can purchase a schrader valve adapter from your local bike shop that screws onto the presta valve and will allow you to utilize a pump with a schrader head.
A good explanation can be found here: http://bicycletutor.com/presta-valve/

How do you fill the tires on this bike. The valve stems are not typical bike tire stems. I am (obviously) a novice biker and have not owned a bike in several years. The pump I bought is a Schwinn pump...

There are two types of valve stems, schrader ( like the valve stems on your car ) and presta. See images on this page http://www.sheldonbrown.com/brandt/presta-schrader.html Since you are asking I assume you have presta valves. You can get an adapter to convert the presta valves for use with a schrader pump. Unscrew the small knurled nut on top of the presta valve to open it, press down and release the small top to ensure the valve is free to move. Snug up the top when it is full.

Cannot get my brand new Topeak Joe Blow Sport pump to lock onto a Presta valve. I have locked the lever down, but it does not hold the valve. It is as if the Presta valve is too small for the pump...

They should be designed to fit both styles of valve, but you need to reverse the seal.
you should be able to unscrew the end, remove the sealing rubber and a plastic fitting that pushes on the valve, replace them the opposite way around ,and they will fit the presta.

I have a Zefal HP frame pump. I'm trying to inflate a tire with a Presta valve. It just won't inflate. It doesn't latch onto the valve and seems to big for the valve body. Is there a diagram available...

Let's hope you didn't force it and snap the plastic point off.

Most Zefal pumps come with a reversible head that can adapt to either Presta or Schreader (like on cars). You unscrew the barrel at the working end of the valve, carefully tap out the rubber cylinder and the plastic internal piece behind it.

Insert the plastic piece in either of two ways. Pointy part Out (for Schrader) or just a round opening Out (for Presta). Rotate the rubber piece correspondingly to show the large opening for Schrader or the smaller opening for Presta and place it inside the valve over the plastic piece. Screw the knurled barrel on tightly.

Can't get this pump to work on either schrader or presta valves! Help!

Its probably the fact that there are two separate holes for presta anad schrader, if so put your finger over the one you want to use and give small pump to vent it then attach, if not then you have to screw off the cover and invert the inner rubber core for presta or schrader, can you give me more details or pic...
