Try resetting all the programs. Make sure your thermostat settings are on c or f depending where you live. Make sure you have new batteries. If the thermostat was working and now isnt then try everything i suggested and then replace it if it still doesnt work. Estate electric dryer

You will need to check the temperature coming out of the dryer when on high heat. It should read around 160 degrees on the high end, and 110 degrees on the low end. If it is cycling before the 155-160 degrees mark, you may have a bad cycling thermostat.
Here is the thermostat to order.
Here is a video to show you how to replace the thermostat.

About heating problems

I must assume the dryer does NOT heat.
** UNPLUG a dryer before attempting ANY repairs. Lethal!
Check this website before you start
A dryer heater is controlled by the timer, a thermostat and a high-heat safety switch. The thermostat and safety switch are mounted on the housing around the heater.
Most likely - If the heater is blown, a visual inspection inside the heater housing will see a loose heater wire. Just order the heater.
Next likely - Thermostat problems occur. I replace the thermostat and high-heat safety if either are suspect. Cheap, easy fix. A tech person with a ohmmeter can measure if the high-temp safety is open (it always reads shorted when it works) A thermostat also reads shorted if the heater is cold.6d28571.jpg
Least likely - Controller failure. This can be expensive ($80 - $400) so consider if you want to spend the money. A controller is actually fairly easy to change. Buy a new knob as you are likely to break it without experience and special tools.

The dryer stopped heating. I ordered a new

the one you saw farther up on the heater casing is the temperature fuse. It is a possibility that it is blown as that could cause the same problem so its worth replacing it. If it continues not to heat you should have a service tech come and check out the machine as you may have an issue with the control panel on the machine which is not something you can easily replace.

Blowing air no heat open up dryer at the bottom on the heating element there is a burnt looks like a small relay that be the problem for no heat

This problem is usually a blown thermofuse. Whirlpool Dryers usually have two thermostats or thermofuses on the heating element case. Unplug Dryer, remove one wire from the thermostat, and with an electrical tester you need to test for continuity or resistance between the two terminals on each thermostat. If you have no continuity on either thermostat, order new ones, they usually will only sell as a set. If their is any burned wiring you have to cut out the burned section and put on new wiring terminals. 99% of the time this is caused by a venting restriction, so make sure your vent is clean and not smashed or restricted, otherwise this problem will reoccurr. If your thermostats have continuity, test for continuity across your heating element terminals. If this doesn't take care of it let me know and I will walk you through other tests

The thermostat has gone on my hotpoint cd00 tumble dryer and I need to replace it, I have ordered a new one, the only problem is I cant seem to remove the old one. Please can anybody help. Thanks, Kate.

Depends on which thermostat you are talking about, as there is more than one thermostat.
2 thermostats are located on the heater element itself, located at bottom rear of dryer, if you cannot see the stats, then you need to remove the heater, and they are located behind the element, be careful, as it is very easy to break the element supports, and then you will need a new heater.
Trust this helps solve your problem, And GOOD LUCK.
