On/Off swithch works intermittent, all others work

My guess it is a dirty switch. Can I take the 5 star screws out and clean it? Has anyone done that?

You can take the back off and re-solder the switch which is a common problem in the palm units.
take apart instructions can be found at

How do you get inside the tomtom 910 to change the battery please. Is there a maual? Cliff

There is no real manual for this, I have done it before though and have typed out the directions here for you, plus a link for the new battery if you need it:

Please make sure you rate my answer 4 thumbs up, it is extremely important to me. I would be forever grateful if you could do so. If you need more help on this question please just respond to my answer here and I will get right back to you.

New Battery:

1) Remove 4 screws under ends of rubber strips on back. (All screws are Torx number 6)

2) Remove back cover. Front frame around screen comes off easier now.

3) Remove 2 screws in round top circuit board. Remove 4 screws from lower circuit board. These two boards may have a glue connection. Do not worry if it separates

4) Lay back circuit boards to unplug battery. Note flat ribbon cables are fragile. The 3 wire plug is the battery. Unplug wires to battery from receptacle on circuit board.

5) Remove front screen by pressing a screwdriver against the small metal tags that follow the edge of the screen. The tabs need to be pushed in slightly to allow you to lift the screen out. It may need some leverage, but be careful not to put the screwdriver to far behind the screen as there are a couple of thin cables for the connections.

6) To remove the hard drive you may need to unscrew the vertical black tags about 2 cm long. These simply come away and are grasping the business card size silver box IE the hard drive. The rubber end caps are pressed in, pry out with small screw driver.
7) Remove battery and replace. Note the two sided sticky tape around battery. When putting more tape on, be careful you do not put to much around the right hand end as it will connect with the thin cable when you put it all back together.

9) Reverse assembly. Mine works fine now, good luck. (and so does mine! BLP)
Footnotes: I did not have a Torx #6 screwdriver nor could I buy one locally. I found a #7 mini star bit works just fine. Source: Harbor Freight item # 93316, 6 piece Mini Star Bit Set - $3 PMVN - 9/19/2009
I am not advertising but included with the battery #5 & #6 torx screwdrivers, a very small philips (star), a straight screwdriver and a plastic pry tool. Whatever I paid more than another place it was worth it.

When disassembling do not remove the battery clip. Just pop out the battery from the front (experienced having to reassemble that whole thing). Also having a set of tweezers to put the electrical connections back together helped a bunch.

I sprayed electronics cleaner into the ball on my Blackberry 8830, now I can not speak to anyone. Is it done for?

You need to take it apart and clean it with a dry anti static cloth dont use contact cleaner on photo eyes you just dirtied up the eyes now they can't see. Try a Q-tip with alcohol that should do the trick don't go crazy with it and let it air out when done.

Sidekick trackball won't work =[

More than likely, the trackball on your Sidekick is really dirty. Overtime, dirt and grime gets in between the ball and the sensors.

It is really easy to clean it, you will need q-tips and IPA alcohol. No dis assembly is usually needed!

Won't charge even though Green light is on and connects to computer. Just put a new battery in.

Yes, possibly a cracked pc board if the unit was dropped. But check to make sure that the charging unit's connector is clean as well as the unit to be charged. I had a problem with my wireless phone and a PDA not charging because of dirty contacts. I got to the contacts using a long Q-tip moisten with Isopropyl alcohol and scrubbed them clean. I now do it about twice a year. No problems since then.

Joy stick can be changed but is best done by an engineer as you will need to take phone apart. You would also need joystick part and correct screw drivers as star shape screws. Have you checked with Sony Ericsson as most handsets have 24 month warranty?

Eypad problem

First try repeatedly pressing 8 key while at Home screen to see if problem is permanent or intermittent.
Pressing a number key at Home screen will cause the phone to display 8 if any press is recoginized/dialing.

If it is intermittent, then it is likely a hardware problem. Disassemble phone to keypad/phone printed circuit interface. Clean interface with alcohol or clean pencil eraser and disconnect/reconnect any cable interfaces. This may be worth a try even if key is not intermittent.

If this doesn't work or you don't want to disassemble, you can try a phone Hard Reset. See my other solutions on how to do a Hard Reset. Basically, hold down both left and right softkeys while turning on the phone. A Reset screen will display. Note all personal apps and data you added to phone since new is lost.

Treo 650 keyboard not working

THere is a screw just under the antenna ( remove small rubber plug with a sharp knife) and the keyboard can be replaced although I had a similar problem and it was the ribbon not seated all the way into the holder.
