SOURCE: how to change fuel lines on craftmans 36cc chainsaw

The best way is to change only one at a time. There are many folks on here that removed everything, then couldn't remember where the lines went. Use original lines, not plastic. Check your work by trying to pump fuel into the primer bulb. Good luck!

SOURCE: factory carb settings for dolmar ps460 chainsaw

Try squirting a little starting fluid into the carb and try to start. If it will try to run, you have a fuel problem. Try changing the fuel filter first.

How to stop saw from bogging

Two things. First, is the chain dull? Second, if it develops a "throaty" sounds when you're cutting instead of the "crisp" sound you normally get from a chainsaw or weedwhacker or dirtbike... then the carburetor's running rich - it's "four-stroking". Try fiddling with the two mixture adjustment screws; one should be for idle mixture, the other for high-speed mixture. Get the saw idling and turn one of those screws clockwise ONE-QUARTER TURN. If the saw's idle doesn't change, turn that screw one more quarter-turn. if the saw's idle still doesn't change, thats the high-speed mixture screw.

If the saw's idle changes while you're doing that, then you're on the idle-mixture screw - return it to exactly where it was and adjust the OTHER screw clockwise a quarter-turn. Now try cutting - see if you've improved the saw's performance. If it's still four-stroking, try another quarter-turn.

If you go too far, the saw won't want to run at all at higher speeds... so you'd need to back up the screw the other way. Run it at the richest (most counterclockwise) position where it doesn't four-stroke under load.

My ps 9010 dolmar goes dead after about 10 minutes of running

Tim:

The problem with your saw could be a few things. First, check the filter at the end of the fuel line in the tank. Sometimes the filter hangs up in a part of the tank where it is not totally submerged in the fuel. This can happen especially if you are doing side-cuts or tilting the saw. you may possibly need to adjust the fuel/air adjustment screws on the carburetor.

I have a dolmar ps 52 chainsaw keeps cutting out when warm any ideas thanks

Try a new spark plug first. The ignition system may be failing with heat. Try cleaning the engine with compressed air to get rid of accumulated sawdust. Check for muffler for plugging. Make sure the engine 4-strokes at full throttle, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Adjust the H needle somewhat to achieve this. Hope this helps

My DCS401-16 starts w/difficulty, but won't run long, is leaking.

I suspect you have cracked fuel lines. An open line causes the saw to run lean. To large a leak and she won't run at all. Check your area for a Dolmar (owned by Makita) dealer. They sell red versions of your blue saw and for a nominal fee will be happy to help.
Lou
You own a pretty good saw.
