Palm zire z22 went dead

I charged the device overnight, but it will not respond. I've plugged it into my usb port, still nothing. Palm.com is having "system errors" and the pages won't access. Any ideas how to reset the thing? THanks,

It works! Luckily, resetting did not erase anything on my Palm.

The handheld will not come on.

While pressing the up button on the front, press the reset button on the back. if the Palm screen comes up allow it to reset, then plug it in to charge. I found this instruction for a "soft reset" online.

SOURCE: How to download current Zire info to new Palm Z22

My son said to just install the new software and see if it would transfer the data via the sync feature, and it did. The new Z22 software must have written over the existing Zire and incorporated all the data.

Lost my Cd to my palm z22. Does any one know were I can download the porgram for my palm. So I can put info on my computer. :)

behoney56:

The information support page for the Palm Z22 has moved around over the past few years. It is now at

http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb/na/zire/z22/unlocked/home/page_en.html

As well, I have an entire web page devoted just to maintaining, repairing, and using the Palm Z22, at:

http://kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.htm

As the Palm Z22 ages, there are issues with old and dying batteries, with the touch screen deforming and becoming useless, and various DATA connectivity issues, since the new Windows 64 BIT Operating Systems did not yet exist when the Z22 was diss-continued.

On my web page are links and USER information on the various solutions that they found, as well as a bit of information that I discovered, which is hitherto unknown!

Hope these tid-bits of help get your Palm Z22 up and running properly...

good luck

How do i fix the touch screen on my palm z22?

I am repeating a previous answer, since it covers most of the common problems :
The Palm Z22 is, I have found out, a bullet-proof design in regards to reliably keeping your valuable "DATA" safe over time. The Engineers at PALM really did a good job of Data integrity compared to many other devices. HOWEVER -- there are 3 common problems with the growing AGE of the Z22, 2 are with the dying batteries, and 1 with the years of wear and tear on the touch screen. The battery is a typical square, thin, modern Lithium battery, wired in with two wires ( + positive, red, and - negative, black ) that can be
taken out and replaced if you take the unit apart. In a brand new, in-the-box package, the battery is dying simply from old age. If the Z22 was used heavily, the constant cycling from dead to fully charged wears out the battery even more. The Touchscreen is a thin layer of plastic stretched over a sheet of glass, with a tiny air gap in between. Over time, the top plastic layer deforms - with hot and cold, air pressure changes, and being pressed by wearing the unit in a pocket, purse, briefcase, or even in a drawer with pencils, pens, and staplers etc. It is very important to have a hard cover over the screen! Other than just having the battery loose its weak charge continually, there is a problem with the unit getting into a state of BLACK SCREEN - it does not charge and remains "apparently" dead, since the logic circuits are in an invalid state, and it can only be reset if the battery dies COMPLETELY to remove the power on the logic circuits.
I have covered the topics of the battery problems, the data problems, the screen problems, and the disassembly, maintenance, and security, and how to get data off the unit, particularly to the new Windows Operating Systems that were developed AFTER the Z22 was no longer made. This is at
kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html
I have ripped apart the Z22 repeatedly, and posted pictures of the various steps to service these units. There are links to aftermarket software to transfer data, and examples of how to USE the Z22, for valid purposes. This should be a one-stop source for any information or troublehooting the Z22, for those who have the Z22 and want to keep it operating!
good luck

Palm Z22 won't sync, USB Device Not Recognized

The Z22 is very well designed to PROTECT your stored data - do NOT do a RESET, since this has nothing to do with your problem! It sounds like your USB cable is damaged- a very common problem, usually one of the 4 or 5 wires near one end of the cable or the other, breaks inside the plastic covering, and you loose connectivity. The "OLD" Style USB end that plugs into the Z22 is getting difficult to find, since it has been replaced with the smaller "MICRO" version, available everywhere (As of 2014 ! ) It is available online very inexpensively.
I have a full page of information on the Z22, and how to repair, take-apart, maintain, and connect it. It is at:
kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html
I hope that this information helps you to get your
Z22 up and running again.

good luck

Palm z22 usb cable connection problem

I have the same problem, but with TWO z22s. Both are about a week old, and both "talked" seamlessly to the computer. Suddenly neither does. Do not see anything wrong with USB port or cable. Uninstalled all PALM OS from desktop and reinstalled. Still no link.
