All of your operating system, software and data has been erased and lost.

Start from scratch and insert the Vista CD then re-install Windows.

Sorry it might not be the answer you wanted but why did you reformat and not expect this?

You will most likely have to contact Dell for your recovery CD's. Dell is usually really good about getting recovery disks to customers. All you have to do is let them know the nature of your problem. They may charge you if you are not under complete care warranty (or any warranty), but they will get you the CD's you need to fix this. You will need to reformat your machine. If you are under the complete care warranty, you could take the machine to any certified dell technician, and they could order you a new drive, free of charge.

Chances are that if you formated the d: partion that you destroyed the factory image restore. You will have to do a clean install of windows.

I have a dell inspiron 1525 and I keep getting the low disk space message, I have completely restored the computer back to factory settings, and there is nothing there to clean up, what can i do to fix...

You may need to fresh install. But before you do this make sure you create a backup of all your data into an external drive.

Try restoring again but this time choose the fresh install, this will delete/wipe all data off the drive. What you done may have restored to factory settings but data were kept.

Hope this helps.

How do a complete factory restore on dell inspiron 1525 when after f8 it says unable to locate file?

Dell.com supply "rescue disks" as do many sites on the net. I think that is possibly the only way to go.
Errors on the hard drive possibly caused the error in the file system, or the master file table has been corrupted.
Hope it helps.

hi

all you need to do is take the recovery CD that came with the system, isnert, reboot the system to load from DVD or CDROM. and copy the boot sector into your hard disk, C or whatever letter you have .
reboot system again, take the data installed on your HDD c letter , and create a driver letter, and then copy that data to the new drive letter.

How to format DELL Vostro 1014 Laptop

If you wish to FORMAT your hard drive so you can re install the OS.
Put your Windows disc into the CD/DVD drive, boot the computer and press F2 (if that does not work try CTRL+ALT and enter) to enter the bios. Change the boot order to boot from the CD drive first.

Follow the onscreen instructions to Install the OS, you should get the option to delete the existing partitions and then to FORMAT.

I would like to reset my laptop to its factory settings but dont know how. I tried F8 key and also F11 CTRL but nothings seems to work. Its a Dell ispiron 1525.

Hi,
To restore your laptop back to factory defaults you will need the restore cds that were supplied with your laptop.
Insert the cd (or the firs if is more than one) and restart your laptop.
When the message appears "Press any key to boot from cd" press enter and follow the wizard to reinstall the operating system and restore your laptop.
Please note that you should backup any data that you would like to keep before the above procedure.

I lost my Systems Administrator Password so I want to clear Inspiron 1525 to factory settings

You can revert back to Factory Settings only if your laptop came with a preinstalled OS. You can Restore to Factory Backup using the disc provided with your laptop. If you dont have one, you can just format your drive and clean install any OS you like.

Reformat on Dell Inspiron 1525

Yes, a reformat wipes the disk clean. There are special programs for this. The Dell recovery CD's (DVD's) will have the program. The usual command is "Format C: /v" without the quotes. The /v tells the program to verify every sector as it formats. Back up every thing that you need first as there are no second chances.
