SOURCE: Turntable does not rotate when switched 'on'.

K, I'm not familiar with that particular stereo unit but there were a lot of stereos from years gone past that used a turntable made by BSR. When you activate the switch to start the turntable listen closely to the record platter for a hum or possibly the sound of a motor turning (they're quite quiet). Is the switch lever you pull rectangular made of black plastic, you pull it towards you one click to start the record and pull it one step further (spring loaded) to make the tone arm lift from the record automatically? Just want to make sure I'm talking about the right turntable before we continue.

SOURCE: Connect Onkyo CP-1020F Turntable to Theater System?

Yes. It needs to have Line Level (slightly amplified or pre-amp'd) before your home theatre system can 'hear' it.

SOURCE: Turntable does not rotate when switched 'on'.

Throw it from a second story window then smash it with a sledgehammer. That's what I plan to do with mine.

SOURCE: AFTER adjusting the speed setting

If it says your speed setting in on 33, than you have a problem with the speed control inside of the turntable, there is not much you can do in that area. 33 is the slowest speed too, so it seems like it is stuck on 45 or 78. Call Teac if you are still under warranty.

I have an compact disc stereo system, disc, radio works. phono not working, why ?

I live in California but I do have a memorex system with the same components. My belt fell off my turntable so it didn't turn. It took a bit of patience but I was able to get the belt back on. The turntable is held down by a clip on the spindle. The belt might have to be replaced if it keeps falling off. It will do that if its been used alot. While the turntable is off, if you move the arm you can see if the turntable motor will turn on too. That would be the only other problem you can have on that unit. The repair cost might be more than what the unit cost. Just be patient and careful and you probably can fix it yourself.

Connect the RCA phono plug wires usually red and white wires with plugs to a receiver or amplifier in the back of it to phono in. New receivers will not work unless you have a phono preamp. Best to buy a vintage stereo receiver or amplifier with the correct connections. Make sure you connect the ground wire which is usually a small black wire coming from the turntable to an receiver or amplifier. Turn the stereo receiver on phono. Connect it to any screw attached to metal on back or look for a ground screw. If you do not attach it it will hum.

How do i connect technics turntable model SL-QD33 to technics stereo model SC-DV290 and what do i need to switch to on stereo to play records.

Have a look on the back input panel of the sc-dv290. Check for a "PHONO" input. If there is no phono input it will not play turntable. If there is: then plug it the turntable in and switch the SC-DV290 to PHONO mode.
Another way would be to purchase a "phono preamplifier" from ebay: Hook the turntable into the phono preamplifier, and the preamplifer into the SC-DV290 AUX input.

I need a new hi fi system but i still want to use my turntable. can I use a turntable with the denon dm35 or sony cmt-bx70db1?

If your amplifier does not have a ' phono ' input, you need a pre-amplifier for your turntable. This is due to the RIAA equalization of records (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RIAA_equalization). there are many Phono pre-amps available for sale on the internet from under $15 to over $50. Just Google phono preamp. Hope this helps

The volume coming from the stereo is very low. what gives?

Check the preamp switch. some have a built in preamp which may be needed when connecting to some equiment

If connection via PHONO cables to a PC then it should be on

Some older hi-fi equiment may have two sets of PHONO input one for low inpedance and one for high

Connecting a turn table to a micro stereo system

You will need the following to connect this to that system:

1) Phono Pre-amp
2) 3.5mm to RCA adapter or 3.5mm 'Y' cable to RCA
3) Turntable

Your turntable will connect to the Phono Pre-Amp input. This pre-amp will also have an output. This output is RCA, from here you connect to your system using the 3.5mm adapter or cable.

That's it.

No sound from turntable bought for our hi fi system

Hi,

Most if not all turntables would need to be connected to a PHONO INput which is high impedance with a high gain pre-amplifier stage. It will not work when connected to an AUX, CD or any line level inputs. Alternately, if your amp does not have any Phono Inputs, you can feed the turntable output to a preamp which can then be connected to any any line level inputs. An example may be found here or here. Additionally, there are some turntables with a built-in preamp.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
