Question about Heating & Cooling
My a/c doesn't turn on
When you turn the ac on, do you hear a click from the engine area? Find the ac compresor (should be top and front of motor with a belt attached) turn on cac and see if the plate in the middle of the compressor (where the belt is attached) is now moving. If not, the compressor is not engaged. Find fuse box, look on diagram for ac component and ensure it is ok. If good, check other fuse box under the hood for any additional fuses for the ac. If ok, find the low pressure safety cutoff . It will be located on one of the ac lines with 2 (maybe 1) wire coming off. Unplug this and using another piece of wire, connect those two terminal so it is in a 'loop' (do not use bare wire!) If this does not start the compressor, you could have a switch problem when you turn it on or a bad compressor. Do not buy a compressor until last resort as it will be expensive to purge system, vacuum it down, replace drier and freon.
