Question about Frigidaire Dryers

Drum will not line up with barring on back panel

I have replaced the belt on a Frigidaire dryer Model #FEX831CSO. Now I can't get the drum to line back up so I can put the back on. The backend wants to tilt downward and wont stay in place.

I will give you instructions for both the front and the rear assembly to make sure your question is answered. If you have room to lay the machine down on its back the job would be simplified (I didn't).
If you are trying to align the three little screws that fasten the drum to the rear bearing, (belt can be installed without pulling drum) it is a tricky three handed job. First make sure you have both the inner and outer panel (slanted panels above washer lid) removed to give you more room to work.
I aproached it kind of like putting a wheel on my car, I make sure one of the screw holes in the bearing is straight up (12 oclock) then try to get a screw hole in the drum to line up with it without turning the bearing. Its a tough job but it can be done. Once you get the first one started try to keep it at the top while inserting the other screws.
Another hard job on this machine is installing the front door panel, If I'm working alone I remove the dryer door and block the drum up close to the right hight from below (removal of slanted panel and inner panel is required). Place the front panel in position (but not inserted all the way) in front of drum and try to get the top lip of the front panel over the top of the machine without losing alignment of the drum If you can get a screw in it to hold it and the drum is still where it's supposed to be you can push the front the rest of the way on and get a screw into the bottom and your home free, if not you will have to start again.
Pay close attention to the alignment of the air tube that is also part of the front panel, if you don't get it tight to the blower you will end up with the classic "not enough heat" problem. I put three small kinks in the inner slanted panel to make it keep pressure on the air tube to hold it tight against the blower.
I have completely disassembled these machines alone several times so it can be done.
Good Luck

I need a diagram on how to open up the back or front to install the dryer drum belt for my Frigidaire FLSE60RGS0. we bought the belt, and I did get a diagram on how to install belt, but doesn't show us...

Disconnect the water, vent duct, and electric connection to gain access to the rear of the machine. Be prepared to catch any water that comes out of the hoses.

On the rear of the dryer, remove the panel that's behind the dryer section (upper panel).

If the belt is intact, make a drawing of the belt's route.

If the belt is broken, remove and discard it.

Slide the new belt onto the drum to approximately where it belongs (lined up with the motor pulley). I think this model might have a groove for the belt where it rides on the drum.

With the slack portion of the belt, squeeze it to make a loop and push it through and onto the tensioner pulley on the bottom of the dryer.

Using the tensioner spring to relax the belt (pull it toward the motor pulley), slip the belt onto the motor pulley.

Check the belt by pulling on it to see if the drum, motor and tensioner are rotating freely (don't pinch your fingers!).

I am not the best at abstract description. I hope this helped.

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

I need to replace the belt in my GLER341AS2 model Frigidaire dryer. How do i open up the dryer to do so?

Unplug the dryer and using a 1/2 inch pait scraper locate the spring loded clips holding the top down to the front of the cabnet. They are located about one to two inches from the front corners of the dryer.
Lift the top and rest it on the wall behind the dryer.
Looking inside the dryer locate the screws holding the front panel to the cabnet and remove the screws.
Mark the wires to the door switch and remove.
Remove the front panel.
Go behind the dryer and remove the small rear panel near the bottom of the dryer.Observe how the belt is attached to the pulleys.Release the tention on the belt by moving the belt tentioner and sliding the belt off the motor pulley.
Go to the front of the dryer and grab the belt on the top of the dryer drum. Holding the belt lift the drum straight out holding the drum with the belt.
Check to see if all the rollers are in good shape and rotate freeley. Oil if needed.
Check to see if the teflon gliders located on the front panel that hold the drum are in good shape. Replace if needed.
Vaccum the inside of the dryer.
Put the new belt over the drum and line the drum up and install back into the dryer.
Put the front panel back on and reinstall the two screws.
Replace the door switch wires.
Make sure the grooves on the belt are flat to the dryer drum
Put the top down and go behind the dryer'
Locate the belt.
Pinch the belt and insert it under the tention pulley and slide it over the motor pulley. Make sure the belt is positioned straight and located where the old belt was positioned on the drum.

How to install rear bearing on Frigidaire model fex831cso dryer

Not sure you are up to the job as everything has to come out from the front door panel all the way to the back of the machine.
If you are up to it there is a ball like a trailer hitch on the back of the drum that rides in a plastic saddle screwed to the back of the machine, both have to be replaced. MAKE SURE MACHINE IS UNPLUGGED
The kit was about 30 dollars last time I did it and comes with everything you will need. Don't try to reuse the three screws that hold the ball onto the rear of the drum or you will find out what aggravation is.
Also don't leave out the little ball bearing, it has a purpose.
Good luck

Can't Put Belt On

You have to remove the front of the dryer to
access the drum. First unplug the dryer. There are screws at the bottom of the front to remove the lower section. Once you remove that you can get to the screws for the door section. The front of the drum rides on the inside of the front panel so when you remove the panel the drum will drop down. Try to keep the drum in place with something to hold it up. Remove the old belt and place the new belt around the drum. Slid the belt back to where the belt used to ride and then loop the belt around the motor and the tension wheel. Make sure the tension wheel is tightening the belt. Hold up the drum and put the front panel back on. You may need a helper to hold things while you do this. Rotate the drum by hand and make sure it moves smoothly. Plug it back in and give it a try. I hope this helps. Any questions feel free to ask. Please rate me so I know if I'm Helping. Thanks.

Hello mcbeanga,
Please find a link to an exploded view f your dryer
In many cases ( and I am not all that familiar with your figidaire model) belt replacement can be handled by removing the front and top panel. The exploded view may help a bit. Once you have the front removed, pay particular attention or take a digital picture if you have a camera handy) of the path that the belt takes around the pulley system and tensioner. Hope this helps you,,,
