Business cards get stuck in HP 4650

I am using Avery preformated business cards in a HP color laserjet 4650. I am feeding it in via the manual tray, but the cards get stuck. Do I have to change the paper type and if so, what setting do I use?

The sheet gets stuck just as it begins to exit the rollers into theexit tray. It looks like the printer is not expecting card stock.

Where is the sheet of cards getting stuck? Is it even getting pulled into the printer?

The card stock is most likely too heavy for the 4600. If you check the owners manual, you will most likely find this is "Out of media specifications".

Other color HP laser printers like the 2500 cannot move card stock well either.

HP will tell you that 'if the printer moves paper perfectly' it's not broken.

How do I print cardstock with Samsung ML-2510?

Hi
I found a manual for your printer here:
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/MM/200605/20060510151657234/um_ml-2570_manual_eng_060328.pdf

and under print media, it suggests limits of 60 to 163 g/m2 for the 2 trays. If you get some 160 g/sm2 card which is quite readily available, I think you will find it much lighter than the Avery business cards card, which from memory come in around the 200 - 220 g/sm2 level.
Even Avery quote this card as "heavyweight card stock", and although the say will print on all laser printers, it's my experience that they do not. Only on a laser with a flat paper path.
Cheers

What is the heaviest paper that you can use on a hp4600dn laserjet . I am looking to print out cards

It depends on the tray. In Multipurpose Tray 1: 16 to 53 lb bond (60-200 g/m2) media. The other tray(s) (depending on model) can only take 16 to 28 lb bond (60-120g/m2) media.

I hope this helps.

Try placing the business card sheet in the main paper bin instead of the manual feed or adjusting the print orientation from Portrait to Landscape or vice versa.

Message "card slot not initialized

The HP Color LaserJet 4650 printer also has three flash memory card slots for printer firmware, fonts, and other solutions. The HP Color LaserJet 4610n does not include any available flash memory card slots.
■ The first CompactFlash slot is reserved for printer firmware.
NOTE Use the first flash memory card slot for firmware only. The slot is marked “Firmware Slot.”
■ The two additional CompactFlash memory slots in the HP Color LaserJet 4650 printer enable the user to add fonts and third-party solutions, such as signatures and personalities. The slots are marked "Slot 2" and "Slot 3."
--- These card slots are located inside the Formater unit. Most likely you either are missing the firmware card or it's defective.
Hope this helps!
good luck!

Lexmark won't print on Avery labels

The printer is expecting the label stock to be loaded into the manual feed tray, not the regular paper tray. If it does not sense anything in the manual feed tray it will not continue. If you are loading the stock in the tray, it may need to be pushed further into the try to trigger the sensor.

Problem with printing business cards with HP Lasterjet 1320

If the cards are getting stuck in your printer, you first need to make sure the cards are rated for laserjet. If they are, then many times the cards don't like going through the curves of the machine. I would set them to feed from the tray on the front, which should be tray 1, and I would select them to eject out the rear of the printer, which you should be able to accomplish through the print drivers depending on what software you are using to print them.

Please let me know if you would like further assistance with this matter. Thank you.

Hp laserjet 4650 crumples leading edge of paper

When you open the paper tray assembly you will see that on each side there is a silver bracket on each end of the paper tray that the paper sit under. You can bend these away from the paper in a sidways just a little and that will fix your problem. The paper is hanging on these plates as it feeds and is bending the paper as it feeds.

Print Garbage

The reason your pictures come out dark and grey is that you have not set the paper thickness on your printer. On the back you will see a flip switch change this setting then feed your business card sheet in there and see the diffrence. Plus make sure your settings for your printer are set for a thicker paper this will fix your problem. Make sure though when done printing your cards that you set it back to the normal or you will have problems printing regular paper documents.
