This was not supported in control center 2. However, it is supported in control center 3 which you can download from the Brother website.

When our printer was attached to our windows 2000 machine, we could only scan a page at a time and then "print" the scan to a PDF printer. (We use DocuDesk). However, when we upgrade to a Vista machine and downloaded the new driver, the new control center supports PDF and multi-page.

Open up the Control Panel for the MFC on your computer. This was installed when you installed the software/driver for the printer when you first set it up. Put the page in the automatic feed, face up, head first. Click on File on the control panel and the sheets should start getting fed through. This instruction means that you are telling the scanner to scan (copy) what you have to an electronic pdf file. There should be a folder on your desktop that is called "scanned files". Once the scanning is complete, you can go to the folder and find the pdf file you just created. I have found that if I scan too many sheets at one time, the file gets too big (like 10MB!) -- keep it small.

You , nor anyone else, cannot scan and save as an ADOBY PDF file. To creat a PDF file requires either the ADOBY writting software of another software that saves  in the PDF file format.    Scanners take a picture of what ever is layed on them and copies then by breaking them into  millions of dots and then saving as a picture in a format such as JPEG.   Sorry

With Windows XP, ControlCenter 3 is not an option. As a result, I took the time to call Brother Support and scanning multiple pages from the flat-bed glass to a single file can be done through Scansoft Paperport, a component in the Brother Suite. I'm pasting the instruction from Brother Support below:

Thank you very much for your inquiry. Our Search Engine found the following Solution from our Solution Database that matches with your Problem description.

How do I scan a document into PaperPort 11 SE using the TWAIN driver?

    Description of Solution 200000016388

To Access the Scanner follow the steps listed below:
    1. Open PaperPort. Click START -> (ALL) PROGRAMS -> SCANSOFT PAPERPORT 11 -> PAPERPORT.
    2. If the Scan or Get Photo panel is not already displayed on the left side of the screen, click FILE -> SCAN OR GET PHOTO. The Scan panel should then appear.
    3. Under the scanner section click SELECT.
    4. Ensure that TWAIN has a check next to it and from the list of available scanners choose the TWAIN driver for your model brother machine. (ex: TWAIN: TW # BROTHER XXX-XXXX)
    5. Click OK. Your scanner should now be listed under the scanner section of the scan panel.
    6. Under Select a Profile you can choose from several pre-configured scanning profiles:

You can scan photos by
1 Open the top cover, and then load an original document facedown on the scanner glass.
2 Close the top cover to avoid dark edges on the scanned image.
3 Make sure that the printer is connected to a computer, and that both the printer and the computer are on.
4 From the printer control panel, press "scan" button.

part that you want to scan, and then click Scan from the Scan dialog on the computer screen.

I have got a DCP-110C printer, how do I scan a document onto the computer then alter the text within this document?

Try this procedure and let me know how it goes

  1. Scan the page you want to convert into a Microsoft Word document.
  2. Save the scanned image in *.gif, *.jpeg or whatever format.
  3. Open that image, go to "File->Save As" and name it "xyz.tiff" in the "TIFF" format as shown.
  4. Go to "Start->Programs->Microsoft Office Tools->Microsoft Office Document Imaging"
  5. Go to "File->Open" and open your scanned document that has been saved in *.TIFF format.
  6. Go to "Tools->Send Text to Word." You will get a prompt stating this process will take time, Click OK. This will take some time depending on your computer's speed (a minute or two at the most).
  7. When it's done it will open up Microsoft word on its own and the scanned document will now be in editable mode.

I can't figure out how to scan multiple pages to one file

Hi There !!

Thank you for choosing fixya.com

It is possible to scan different batches scanned from the ADF into one PDF file. When loading more pages in the ADF after the first realm is finished, it asks if you want to continue scanning to the same file. After that, it will continue scanning to the same file. However, this feature can be selected in the Adobe Acrobat application itself. From HP software, if we load the paper after one realm of paper in the ADF is finished, it will scan the second realm to a different file. If you want to continue scanning to the same file, you need to have either Acrobat Exchange or Adobe Acrobat installed on the computer. Adobe Reader will not provide this feature. After installing either Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Exchange, perform the following steps to scan pages to a single file:
  1. Make sure your scanner is turned on.
  2. Start Acrobat Exchange or Adobe Acrobat.
  3. Put the document into the scanner (usually face down on the scan bed).
  4. In Adobe Acrobat, click File , then Import , and Scan .
  5. Select the device and whether you are scanning a single- or double-sided document.
  6. The scanning software opens and the scanner completes a preview scan.
  7. When the preview scan comes up, make any adjustments you would like, including selecting the area you want to appear in the final scan.
  8. Click Scan . This will get the final scan into the computer.
  9. Your scanning software should take you back to Adobe Acrobat.
  10. In Adobe Acrobat, you should see a small window asking you if you want to scan another page. If the document you are scanning has more than one page, click the Next Page button. If this is the only page, click Done .
NOTE: Scanning multiple pages causes each page to append to the previously scanned page. If you have multiple pages, but want them to be in different files, click Done after each page to create separate files.
  11. When you have scanned the last page, click Done on the window described in step 10.
  12. Your scanned pages will open in Adobe Acrobat. Scroll through to make sure that everything is there.
  13. Click File , and then Save As to name your file and save it.
Still unable to figure out, How to do this? Here are some tutorial on HP website that might help.

Save the Scanned images in a folder (anywhere, jus remember where you save them!!).....

Now after you are done scannning and SAVING the images.... Log into your email account,
select New Email... or new message.....whatever.............

and attach the files........(I'm not sure the cap on your email provider's service for filesizes...but you may have to send multiple emails depending on how many pics/scans you want to send........

another way is to upload it to a server (file Host)
They will provide you a link which you copy and save in a text file on your desktop......... then you can download them from any computer online!!!

When you see the File Save Settings window, you need to select the location, name, and format of the scanned image file you want to save.
  1. In the File Save Settings window, specify the file folder in which you want to save your scanned image. Click the My Documents or My Pictures radio button (Windows XP or earlier versions), or the Documents or Pictures radio button (Windows Vista or Mac OS X).
  2. If you want to select another folder, click Other, then click Browse (Windows) or Choose (Mac OS X) and select the folder. If you want to save your image on the desktop, simply click Other.
  3. Specify a file name prefix with an alphanumeric character string. A 3-digit number is automatically added to the file name, but you can change the Start Number if you like. If you are scanning multiple images at once, each image will receive a different 3-digit number.
  4. Select a file format. Depending on the format, the Options button may be available for making detailed settings.
  5. The check boxes at the bottom of the window give you these options:
  • Overwrite any files with the same name: Select this option if you want to reuse the selected file name and location and overwrite previous files with the same names.
  • Show this dialog box before next scan: Select this option if you want the File Save Settings window to appear automatically before you scan in Home or Professional Mode. If you deselect it, you must click the File Save Settings button to open the window.
  • Open image folder after scanning: Select this option if you want Windows Explorer or the Macintosh Finder to automatically open to the folder where your scanned image is saved when Epson Scan finishes scanning.
6. Do one of the following, depending on the currently selected scan mode:
  • Home or Professional Mode: Click OK. Epson Scan starts scanning.
  • Full Auto Mode: Click OK, click OK again, then click Scan. Epson Scan starts scanning.
The scanned image is saved in the file and location you chose.
