Mine is doing the same thing. By pluging and unplugging the power back and forth sometimes I get it to read the disc and it stays on. If you get yours going then I suggest always leaving it on. It doesn't draw much. A temporary solution until you figure out how to fix it.

According to rep. at Tascam, laser is weak or dead. If you are electronically/mecahically inclined, you can replace the drive mechanism (sort of like aCD-RW drive in a computer, but this has flex-circuit cables going to it for power, signal, and control which are relatively delicate compared to the cables in a computer). SOURCE: Tascam CD A500 'No Disc' error message

Hi,

The first thing i would suggest you to do is a hard reset by unpluging the the player for 30min and then try again.

If this does not solve your problem then please see if the player tries to read the disc.
Load a disc and listen.Does the player make squealing noises or is it totally quiet? Squealing noises may indicate that the player is trying to synchronize with the disc but can't due to an obstruction on the lens or in the laser path inside the pickup or a defect in the pickup. This can also be caused by an intermittent signal problem due to a faulty ribbon cable.

Totally silent means that the photo sensor is not getting any usable input from the laser at all, meaning that the pickup is "blind" for lack of a better word.
This can be caused by an obstruction of the beam by foreign matter on the lens or inside the pickup all the way to a marginal or failed laser diode and/or photosensor array. This can also be caused by a bad ribbon cable with one or more severed traces.

You could try to clean the optics. This is the most common malfunction as far as i know in all disc players. It would involve taking the cover off and finding a way to expose the lense, and then cleaning it with a very gentle brush. some players have a cover for the lense that swings to the side during playing, this greatly reduces the chance of dust accumulating, but its still worth the try.

If you actually see dust on the lense, then its just that simple. clean, close, play.

It may also be worth your while to check on the small shafting that guides the carriage of the laser pickup. Dirt, grome, dust and solidified lubricant can cause stoppage of the carriage and the laser eye then fails to read the next track.

If the problem does not get solved then you have to get it repaired.

Goodluck..
Please don't forget to rate the solution.

I could not do it properly without a solder sucker. One product manufacturer calls it a 'Soldapullt'.
I have the same model-CD-RW700. When it feezes up because of a bad disc, the power cord must be pulled from the ac supply and then plugged back in again to reset the machine.

I cannot finalize my CD's on my Aiwa XC-RW700 Dual CD recorder might you know the problem? when I push the finalization button in blinks for a few seconds like it's going to finalize but...

On page 18 of >>>> the manual <<<< it says to press the " > " key within 3 seconds after "Finalize". You wouldn't want a careless button push to just run off and close out the disc, would you?

The CD tray will not open after the "welcome"

I hope you already have found the answer, but, I have 20 some odd Tascams in the field and this is the training that I give my operators. When a defective CD is in the drive (or one that the unit thinks is defective) you can turn off the machine and let it power down. Then when you power it up keep pressing eject before it has a chance to read the disk. It will go into eject mode before it will go into diagnostic mode and when the disk is out the machine don't let it go back in. Most of the time the machine goes back to working like it should.

Why doesn't unit power up when power button is pushed? Checked outlet and is plugged in.

Take the cover off the unit to look at the fuse...it looks like a little glass tube and will be near the power cord input....you should see a little wire element inside that must be all the way across the tube, otherwise it is bad and will need to be replaced....these fuses are available from places like Radio Shack....If the fuse is good then there is probably a problem in the power supply circuit that will need to be troubleshooted by a service tech

Changing the time pioneer DEN2000MP

The solution that worked for me is:

1) turn off the radio.
2) Push and hold the power button down (the dial). DON'T release the button.
3) The unit will display the time on the lcd screen with the numbers flashing, (only hr or min).
4) use the up/dwn, right/left buttons to set the clock.
5) turn off the unit by pushing the power button (again, the dial).

That is it. the clock should be set.

Hope that helps,
