If you reied formating these cards in your computer and it did not removed the photos, then format these cards using the Nikon camera. When I format my compact memory card in my Nikon it erases all the photos at once.
Insert the card into camera and connect the camera with PC using USB cable then try to get the images. Personally I prefer this method for image transfer since it's reduce the chance of damaging cards.
When you put the card into your camera did you format it? If you didn't format the card the camera might not be saving the photos using the proper file types, hence the computer not recognizing them? Try going into the cameras menu and formatting the card and give it another shot.
#1 Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com #2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives. #3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive. #4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'. #5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place. #6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.
sometimes old photos tend to stay inside due to some defect or settings. instead of deleting photos. format the card once before you start clicking the photos. formatting can be done in PC or in your camera. if this does not solve the problem. please revert back to us.
Did you use the camera to format the card before you shot any pictures. If not, the camera can't use the card and used its own memory to store the photos. Use the camera to format the card, then the camera can continue to shoot more photos and store them on the card. When you download them to the computer, remember to get the one from the camera too.
