Wireless Network Setup Using Comtrend CT-5361T Router

Is it possible to set up a wireless network using my ADSL router so my main computer can be configured as a server with the other 3 or 4 computers able to see a comon drive?

I use a network at work but I'm new to the nuts & bolts.

If your adsl router is with wireless option you can do it.Otherwise you have to purchase adsl to wireless instrument (a lot of vendors having) .After networking you can share a common drive to see in all computers

Every time my power goes out I have to completely re-setup my whole network. The comtrend ct-5072t modem does not seem to want to communicate with my linksys wrt54gl router. changed the ip on the router...

With changing the IP and all that business it may have messed it up a little bit.
This may not be the most sophisticated way of fixing it, but this is what I personally would recommend. THIS WILL ERASE YOUR ROUTER CONFIGURATION, but at this point that should be a good thing.
On both the Comtrend modem and the Linksys router, there should be a "reset" button. Grab a pencil or something long and skinny to press the reset button. Press on the reset button for 5 seconds on both the Modem and the Router.
Then make sure all of your wires are plugged in correctly. Go into your Router's web configuration by opening up Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc. and typing "". The username should be "Admin" and the password should be "password".
After you log in, change the Wireless settings and setup a password for your network and a name for your network.
Unless your Router is truly is faulty, then it may still reset on a power outage, but it should retain all of these settings.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Forgot my wireless password, bought a new computer, can't use it.

you can reset the password by doing a factory reset to the router - usually a little button you press on the back with a pen through a small hole. Doing this will mean setting up your isp details again.
alternatively, connect using a lan lead, log in to the router and change the wifi password.

Have laptop with internet but want to share it with xboxs

Yes, simply set up laptop as a mini server (Wireless) at the other end of the house (Where the Xboxes are) and ensure it has the WEP key installed when asked to access the router / internet. Buy a router adapter for each Xbox 360 that connects to them in the RJ45 slot and connect thru the laptop agian using the WEP key that you should have installed in the Router.

I have a comtrend CT5071T which the phone company had for my internet which is not wireless. I have purchased a comtrend wireless adsl2router which I wanted to use. I called the phone company and they said...

If you want to connect to the wireless network you can connect one of the 4 ports to the ADSL modem, this will allow the device to switch between the Wireless network and the wired network. You could also purchase an access points instead of the router but the result is the same, is just that you won't use the routing capability of your Wireless router.
