If the player has other outputs try connecting the player to the tv
using one of them, ie: use the A/V output instead of HDMI from the
player. If the problem goes away there is something wrong with the
input on the tv.
All symptoms show that cable box is cause of problem, not sure that its internale circuit problem (signal processing in cable box) or its getting distorted signal from cable company.
TV sounds good because it works fine with blu ray player that is HD signal as well.
Change cable box just to confirm it.
I hope this tv would be under warranty so ask nearest Sony service to update its firmware under warranty cover that might fix the issue.
you should go into your tv's setup menu and go to the tuner settings and make sure it is set to CATV (cable tv) and not Antenna/Air also splitting a cable to many times can cause the signal to weaken and gain a lot of noise/distortion that could be an issue that can only be solved by having the company come to the house and do a test ALSO when your in the tuner menu in under your tv's setup menu try adding a non local channel manualy and then see if the tv will tune to it, if so then you might have to add them manually at the worst... my guess is that it is not set to CATV/cable tv hope this helps and if not i hope someone else can.
It sounds like your LCD Screen is no longer working. I would try contacting Sony and ask for a refund. I had the same T.V and the LCD Screen had gone out. A techniction came out and Condemned the screen and i had to pay $500 for a new T.V.
This problem appears to be an issue with numerous Sony Bravia owners of the same model. Although still seeking a soulution, it would appear that our cable provider (Verizon) has replaced all of their components and the Geek Squad from Best Buy where we purchased the unit, points the finger at Verizon. None of our other Fios-equipped TV's exhibit this problem so I am glad we bought the service plan with the TV and will continue to seek a remedy.
if you are using an hd cable box it might be just that. what happens is if the cable company is doing work around your area or some one on your block adds another cable line to there house you end up losing signal for your box. now if you pull the power plugg and let it reboot that could either fix the problem temporarly or not at all. you might need an amplifier hooked up to your cable lines or a new cable box all together. contact your cable provider and ask for some one to test your signal quality. i am also assuming that your not getting the same problem when your watching a dvd. i hope this helps you
This is a software issue with both the TV manufacture and the cable box provider. This will only be fixed when the cable company and TV manufacture sit down and work out their problem. Some cable company has taken the first step by updating cable boxes with different software.
