Question about Motorola Walkie Talkie 2-Way Radio

Can T5200 communicate both ways with MD203R?

Have two T5200s which work together and 2 MD203Rs which work together. Would like all four to communicate with each other. The T5200 can sent to the MD203R which can receive from the T5200, but can't get get the MD203R to send (or the T5200 to receive?)...

The easiest way to know is to set the Frequency, and interference eliminator Code to the same settings on each radio. Turn off any special features for your initial test. When set to the same settings the radios should work together fine. Then you can add back in any special features one at time until you have the radios set up the way you prefer.

    Yes - I wrongly assumed that since the newer "better" model didn't have an eliminator code, that the old one didn't. Set the T5200 code to "0" and now they can all talk back and forth to each other. Thank you very much for your help. ED

You may have the wrong decode.CTCSS tone on the receiving radio. or a bad microphone cartridge on the transmitting radio.

Two sets of Motorola Walki Talki radios will not communicate.


In addition to the channel and privacy codes, some Motorola two-way radios have a feature called Eavesdrop Reducer where you have 3 scramble settings available; perhaps you have this set on one of sets of radios but not the other. It should be something like that because otherwise there is no reason that by setting the radios to the same channel and privacy code they wouldn't be able to send/receive to each other.
