Question about APC BackUPS CS Battery Backup System SixOutlet 500 VoltAmps (APWBK500BK5001) UPS System
UPS is of 220 VAC. But when its battery takes over on power outage, it outputs only 165 - 170 VAC. Battery is new. Resetting has not worked. May be some component has weakened or failed. Help requested to rectify the fault pl.
Some units do not give a sine wave voltage when working on batteries, and not any meter can measure the correct voltage (you will need a "true RMS meter". Connect a a light bulb 100 or 200 watts, if it lights giving a good light, your UPS is OK.

i think by replacing the battery has not been the solution to the problem
u need to check the battery charging voltage when turned ON with main electricity, if no voltage present from charger, there is no question of battery getting charged and also once the battery is down with charge it may not re charge hence the indicator and alarm.
recomended to nearest service centre

It could be that the cable to the front-panel got damaged during the battery replacement. After all these years you would think APC would improve that aspect of their design. All I can suggest is inspecting the cable and where it connects to the front panel.

It sounds like you need a new battery. If the APC is more than 3 years old, that is likely the problem. You can get a new battery from http://www.batteryinternational.com/apc-backups-es-be500u-ups-battery-ups-batteries-f2.html

it seems that the inverter circuit of your UPS is dying. the solution here is you have to open up the UPS and check the inverter circuit. to make easier, check the power mosfet if its leaking.

There are 6 outlets on that unit. Only 3 of them have battery backup. The other 3 are surge protection only. Are you sure of which outlets you are using?
