Question about HP Officejet Pro 8600
I came in on Monday and all of the sudden my fax isn't working. Apparently it has not received any of the faxes people sent me over the weekend or today and when I try and send out it says no answer no matter what number I am sending to. I ran the fax test and it says fail for fax connected to active telephone wall jack. I've turned it on and off, unplugged it juggled everything and ran the fax setup wizard a few times as well. It just makes no sense, no one did anything to it and it worked fine before I left for the weekend and now there is an issue. Please help, I have 20 faxes sitting here that need to go out and I know I've missed quite a few incoming by now. Thank You!
Perhaps the Fax (phone) line is dead or disconnected. Can you hear any dial tone?
If not, ring the Telco

You need a dedicated ANALOG phone line.
A DSL filter screens out ANALOG signals to a DSL device.not the other way around. There are no DIGITAL fax machines.

I can send faxes from my HP Fax 1010, but cannot receive them. I can dial the number from another phone but it will keep ringing and the machine never picks up. We have tested the phone line and all seems well. Is there some setting on the fax machine itself that I need to change in order to receive? Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

If you have an answering machine, have it answer at three rings. Have the fax answer at five rings. Let the answer machine go thru it's cycle, and see if the fax picks up.
