Question about HP PC Desktops

Server Busy message

When I sign-on to computer (booting up) I get a box that says ''Server Busy''. Then within the box is this message: This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose ''Switch To'' to activate the busy program and correct the problem.
When I click on Switch To, this will sometimes let me finish booting up, but at other times the messge just keeps coming back. This is before I sign onto the internet.

Tip

Disk drive may be failing or my disk won't boot

Many times before a hard drive goes completely bad there are tell tale signs. If you can recognize them, there is a good chance that the data on the drive can be saved. The window of time in which action will be useful is quite small. Other than trying to fix the problem do not use the failing computer disk as you can just make the problem worse.
What are the signs to look out for? While there are few surefire signs of impending disk failure there are some warning signals that give us the hint. Watch out for: disappearing files, very long wait while accessing files, files/folders whose contents appear to be strangely scrambled, reoccurring error messages while moving/copying/deleting/creating files, and strange but frequent crashes of your OS. If your computer will not boot saying that it cannot find the boot disk or other messages similar, the boot sector may be corrupt.
Another telltale sign is any loud, low, irregular, clicking, or grinding sound which is emitted from the drive. This is the worst problem as your data and the disk are almost gone.
What to do? Download on a friends computer and create a bootable CD from one of these manufactures: Seatools from Seagate, the Data Lifeguard tools from Western Digital or Drive Fitness Tool from Hitachi.

You must use a CD burning program (such as Nero Burning Rom or EZ-CD Creator) to burn a CD from the .ISO image.

Using the CD, boot the problem system. Make sure the BIOS is set to boot from the CD drive first, not the hard disk. Follow the manufactures instructions to test your disk. Do not let the program write all zeros to the disk or format the disk as you will loose all your data.
With luck, the program will repair any corrupt indexes.
Remove the CD and attempt to do a normal boot. If you can then boot into your desktop, immediately backup any data as the fix may be short lived.
If you don't have a CD drive, then you'll need to try using a bootable USB which is another topic.

Certificate error on web site.

This is basically an Internet Explorer 7 Website’s Security Certificate problem! You have to self-sign the certificate on the client computer or add the URL manually to the trusted security zone. When you are trying to access a secure web page, you receive the warning message:

"There is a problem with this website's security certificate. The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority."

Or

"Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept data you send to the server."

To fix this issue, you can follow either of the methods:

Method 1:

You have to install the Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 (Windows SBS) self-signed certificate on the client computer. To do this, follow these steps:

  • In Windows Internet Explorer 7, click Continue to this website (not recommended).
A red Address Bar and a certificate warning appear.
  • Click Certificate Error button to open the information window.
  • Click View Certificates > click Install Certificate.
  • Click Yes, to install the certificate, when warning message appear.

Note: For Windows Vista users, right click on Internet Explorer icon. Select Run as Administrator.

Method 2:

Add the URL to the Trusted Sites security zone:

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Go to Menu bar > Tools > Internet Options.

    tool.jpg
  • Click Security > Trusted sites > Sites

    sec.jpg
  • Type the URL in the Add this website to the zone text box > uncheck Require server verification >Add > click OK

    trust.jpg
  • Click OK to exit.

Now you have added the URL successfully into the Trusted Sites security zone.

How do I recall a message?

If you are referring to recalling an e-mail message, it will depend on your ISP (most do not support this function). If your computer is going through an Exchange Server to handle your e-mail, then you can recall a message that is on the internal network only. You would go to your sent items in Outlook, open the e-mail you want to recall, click on actions and select recall message and follow the prompts. Otherwise, an e-mail going outside of the organization most likely cannot be recalled.

the above problems were corrected by going to webmail.com and typing in the email address that was malfunctioning. The inbox was displayed as a preview pane and I checked the boxes of the email that was clogging the system deleted them and exited. I then signed on to my email address and downloaded my remaining messages without any problems. Hope this helps others.
