How do I get in there safely to clean the mirror?? what do i unscrew first etc.. it still working just fine but the color is going after 15 years and i need to clean the inside.

Hello.
I would not recommend you to touch the mirror. It is hanged sort of reflection surface facing down so it is not real dust collector. You can clean lenses of your CRT tubes (red, green and blue) to improve your picture. Just remove rear cover taking out black and golden screws and you will see dusty lenses right away in the middle of the TV. Use DRY "Bounty" paper towels to remove dust from lenses, don't wet it with any solutions or it will leave film on optics. Just in circular motion move dust to the black plastic edges of lenses. Don't worry about some specs of dust that inevitable will be left behind - they will not affect image at all like thick layer of dust do.
Regards.
Russ.

I use to work for sharp manufacturing in memphis, and was told i am suppose to have mineral oil in my color guns of my mitsubishi vs-5043,and would need to add and or replace it every couple of years for...

there is a optic coupling between the tubes and the lenses
it however is not mineral oil
and the fluid that is between the lenses is poisenus
so be careful how its handled

its a glycol base mixture and it doesnt have to be changed every couple years
some brands do seem to have a problem with it but Mitsubishi did not

cleaning the mirror and lenses of course will help give the best picture
i have never changed the fluid in a Mtsubishi unless the tube was leaking
its not recomended

Spot on my lense and it shows up on my photos.

I doubt it would be a good idea to try to get in there and get rid of the spot yourself.

If it does not affect your photos significantly then leave it be or if you feel you must, have a a professional clean it. ($$$$). Weigh the cost vs. leaving it alone.

Screen removal from vs45va2

If you want to clean the projection lenses, you do not want to remove the cover screen to get there. That is the hard way, but you should be an experienced technician to do this correctly. Why do you think that the lenses need to be cleaned? What are you seeing on the screen to make you think that the lens needs cleaning?

Cleaning lenses/lamps on mitsubishi VS-60805

A can of compressed air might do the trick. If dirt is stuch, I'd suggest useing the same chemicals/cloths/etc you would use for cleaning camera lenses. Check at your local photo store.

Just make sure the lenses aren't hot when you apply cold and/or flamable chemicals.
