Question about Dell Inspiron 530s Desktop Computer

No Ethernet After Reloading WIndows XP and Drivers

My Dell Inspiron 530S was heavily infected with viruses and we were forced to erase the hard drive and reinstall Windows XP and Drivers. After loading everything from the discs received with the computer, we still have no internet connection. Device manager shows questions marks by the Ethernet, USB, etc. devices. I was told there might be someplace on line I could download the appropriate drivers to fix the problem.

Sounds like you need a driver disk for your motherboard, this usually will load and install the devices you are referring to. This may not have been included with a pre-loaded computer. Search on the Dell website or get the make and model of your motherboard and search on a computer with internet access for the appropriate drivers. This may solve your problem but if it doesn't then we can go from there. Sometimes these come on a floppy but with newer systems they are on a disc.

Hi,
You can download the drivers from the following website.
http://tinyurl.com/68erfo

Note : If the device manager still shows bangs after installing drivers from the website. The operating system would have to reinstalled again

Thanks

After a virus infected my Dell dimension 2350 (XP), I replaced the hard drive with one running Windows 7. After increasing my RAM, I still have some serious resolution problems on my Samsung 172N moni

Hey Tim,.
Once you installed Windows 7 onto the hard drive you would need to have installed the drivers. The one driver that is needed for resolution is the video card. You can right click on the desktop and then choose screen ressolution to see if you can change the resolution. Unfortunately, Dell does not have any Windows 7 drivers for the Dimension 2350 system.

Thank You,

Well,if you don't want to buy a software to erase it,then you should have to reinstall your operating system, delete all partition, and INSTALL AN ANTIVIRUS
try AVG antivirus,it's FREE and easy to update, don't want to buy something don't you?
P.S it's hard to restore a computer which is already infected without reinstalling the operating system

Cannot format new hard drive and install windows XP on a dell 530S

Are you sure your Recovery Disk has the operating system on it? If so, you should be able to just put it in the cd drive and boot from it to do the install. Make sure you hit the Function Key (F1 thru F12) that will allow you to select which device you want to boot from (Select the CD Drive).

Once it start sometimes you'll still have to watch the screen and press any key to boot from the cd when prompted.

I have a dell latitude d610 it was virus infected i install the avast anti virus after installation it automatically restarted and its screen become blue no window boot it just show the dell logo and...

It sounds like the virus did something to the boot sector of your hard drive. Once you have been infected with a virus, it's usually too late to install an anti-virus program to clean your computer.

If you have your Windows installation CDs or a recovery disc, you could attach your hard drive as a second drive to a computer that already has a good anti-virus program installed, and wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows.

Good luck!

I bought a Dell inspiron 400 laptop. I will boot

I would take the hard drive to a computer repair shop and let them scan the HDD and remove the infections. They can also repair the windows installation files so it will boot back up. Either way, you do not have to change out the memory unless you want to install more.

You may have a SATA hard drive. You will need to download the SATA drivers from Dell, put them on a floppy (if equipped) or burn to a CD. When Windows setup asks if you need a third party RAID controller (push "F6" I believe) load the drivers from the floppy or CD then continue with setup.

Dell Inspiron 6000 will not connect to internet

It is still possible that it is infected

whilst AVG and S&D are good I dont know of any security product that "does it all"

I would reccomend "superantispyware" and "malwareantibytes"

http://www.superantispyware.com/index.html

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

download them to a usb drive and install them to the affected computer and run them

Set any setting to scan as deep and as many items as possible

It is also concievable that a virus or trojan has taken over some of the network settings and possibly the "HOSTS" file

Another program to download and run would be "hijackthis"

http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10379544.html

That program can save a log file which can be posted to particular web sites. On these sites are people who know how to disect that log and tell you what to remove and how.

Black screen with mouse only

there are several things which might resolve your problem.

attempt to get into safe mode (with f 8 at boot), and check device manager for problem devices.

insert the vista disk and boot, and attempt to "repair" windows, the boot sector particularly. there is usually a "repair" utility on windows disks which allows you to fix problems without completely reinstalling windows.

your computer may be infected by a virus. if you can get into safe mode, try a virus scanner called "avast" if that doesnt work, try "malwarebytes" or "combofix". these can be found by doing a quick google searc, just make sure you download them from reputable sites. you may have to use a seperate comoputer to download the programs.

if you cannot get into safemode, try the same anti-virus software suites, from a different computer, with your hard drive installed in that system as a "secondary" drive. if this is a laptop hard drive, laptop to desktop hard drive adapters can be purchased for around $20.

Erased hard drive, now nothing will load

Check to make sure that your Inspiron is set to boot from the CD-ROM drive.

It sounds like your laptop is trying to boot from the (now erased) hard drive first, finds that it can't, then stops without ever checking the CD-ROM drive for boot media.

At startup, hit F2 to go into the BIOS settings. Look for the "Boot Order" section. Make sure that your CD drive is listed first, then your hard drive.

Save your changes, and reboot with the WinXP installation CD in your drive. Now your laptop should boot from the CD and begin installation.

Good Luck!
