Question about Magellan RoadMate 700 GPS Receiver
Hi I have had this problem since my upgrade to the latest version in February 07. When I power the unit on, even in temperatures up to close to 80 degrees like today, the unit will display "Below safe operating temp...turn heater on...". This can go on for up to 20 minutes and is very frustrating. This even happens after car has been off sitting without AC and is very warm inside. Any help is apprecaited Thanks Dave
Dave, Please, stop turning your heater on and holding your unit up to the vent. This error is not a unique one, but it is one that requires parts to be replaced. The keypad board has 2 wires coming off of it and they sit right ontop of your LCD. More then likely that is what will be replaced. The only problem is, is that you can't buy individual parts from Magellan. So, ATC Logistics & Electronics (Magellan repair center) in Fort Worth, Tx would be your next move if your wanting to pay for repairs.. or just get a new one. -Daniel

Oh my God, Jim is stuck in South dakota.
I have heard that if you upgrade to the latest unit software, it will solve the freeze up problem. I went to Garmin.com and copied the URL for you to go to if you can. Follow the directions and put the latest version of software on your 340.
