Question about Sanders & Sanding Blocks

The rubber footings for a Makita finishing sander 9035N

I need to replace the rubber footings for my father's old sander which is perfectly good except for the rubber giving way ( we borrowed the sander but these were probably going to go soon as we live in the tropics and rubber really has a shelf life here). These appear to be an item of which there are two on the sander and comprise of two rubber cylanders linked by a strap of rubber at the top. There is one at the front and one at the back. The current ones on the sander are black.

I have my fathers old Sears sander and tools. Rubber has gone past shelf life as you stated, tried rubber rejuvenator, did not work. Value is that they were my fathers and would love for them to work, but decided to keep them on the shelf and keep the memmory, thanks for the sentimental memmory part, wish I could have helped more, yea for you!!

Good day. How do I insert sandpaper into the Makita 9035N sander? Thank you.

looked at breakdown for the 9035 and this shows as a half sheet sander with 2 clips, they have a lever that has to be pulled away from the sander to allow you to lift up on the clamp and insert the paper under the clamp jaws when finished inserting the paper just push the levers back to their original position. You can download an owners manual by going to makitausa.com and typing in your model number. Let me know if you need more assistance.

One of the clips that holds the sandpaper on has broken..Can i get a new one or do I have to buy a new sander (B03700)

Contact your local Makita agent, Makita is a reputable product so you should be able to get the part. Failing that, a good handyman should b able to fabricate one for you.

I would say you have a bearing going out ether on the motor this web address will take you to a good break down of the housing I would say you need a motor bearing it will also give you a parts # but if you have a bearing supplier somewhere ( I look in yellow pages for electrical motor repair) you might find the bearing for a cheaper price just remember to take the old one with you so you are sure to get the same size. I have found bearing and belts for my table saws are the same as for some clothes washers for about 1/2 the price as ordering from sears
good luck

1/4 palm Sander is not "collecting" dust even with a new sanding bag, what could be the problem?

Are you using the punch plate to put holes in the sand paper after you put on a new sheet?
If you are it could have an obstruction in the fan guide or the fan has broken fins. Both the punch plate and fan can be purchased by clicking on the below link.

Putting Sanding paper on makita sander

A makita power planer is just what it says, a planer. It has blades that spin at high speed and remove a thin layer of wood with each pass. The orbital sanding sheets go on another tool called an orbital sander. Write back if you find the sander and can not figure out how the sheets go on it.
