Question about Toshiba Televison & Video

The volume goes up and down

I've been using Toshiba 40RL938 for 4 months. But the volume goes up and after some seconds returns back to its previous volume. What can be the reason for this problem?

There is fault in its main digital processor board. As set is new, and will be in warranty period, it will be best not to do any repair to it by yourself, as warranty will expire. Contact the authorized service center or dealer immedietely.

SOURCE: I've got a new 39"

That could be a cold solder of components or a connectors problem go ahead and open the back cover of your TV.Re seat all the ribbon connectors from the mainboard make sure it properly fits the terminal.
Re solder the power supply board use a soldering iron.the power supply board is where the power cord is connected.also re solder the terminal of the connectors going to the backlight of the TV.this connectors often looses it solder because of the high current going to the inverter board.resolder also the inverter board..good luck!

Hi Sharon,

I have the same exact TV and the same exact problem....except today the screen went black and I no longer get a picture from any source. I've had the TV for exactly 13 months. IF you've had your TV for less time, I'd return it.

Wotcha, i've just taken amp out of storage, has'nt been used for a while cant get volume to work properly the sound goes from speaker to speaker and up and down in volume whilst crackeling a lot as...

One way of proving it ISN'T the amp circuitry is to remove the pre-main jumpers and jack in a source that has its own volume control (or try a CD that starts really low) because this bypasses ALL the amps controls. If it sounds ok (albeit LOUD) I'd suspect oxidized contacts on the controls. Turn it off and vigorously operate all controls a zillion times to wear through it. In mosty cases it's the unused controls that fail because they never get wiped. Maybe a shot of contact cleaner on those you can access.

I seem to always get a static sound out of my Line 6 Spider Iii below 9 o'clock on the volume knob. Not only is it staticy, but the volume jumps all around and goes from whisper quite 1 second to house...

It sounds like you have a dirty pot (the volume control). Unfortunately the only way to clean the pot is to open the amp up and try to spray some Servisol Super 10 in through the small opening in the pot case.

WARNING: Tube amps contain lethal voltages even when unplugged! If you are not an experienced service engineer then take it to someone who is! It is a pretty common task in guitar amps so shouldn't cost too much.

The only thing I can think of is that maximum limit has been set low and is somehow lowering itself. To set the maximum limit

On the home screen, tap settings
Tap Music, then tap Volume Limit
The volume limit control will then come up to raise the limit move the slider all the way to the right.

If you want to stop the volume limit moving you can put in a passcode by clicking on the Lock Volume Limit and entering a passcode (I'd just put in 1234, so you can remember it easily(

Hope this helps.

Such a long delay and a slow return to volume is puzzling. If the return came back in say 30 seconds, I would suspect 1/2 of the V1 tube (12AX7) might have a failure of the heater. When it has failed see if this tube has TWO points of light in it. The cooling down and warm up would give a 15 second ramp up or down in volume. This tube has a path around it that would sustain a very low volume. Try swapping one of the other 12AX7's into this spot. If the sound totally goes away replace the one that was in V1 at first place and see if problem goes away.

Hi, what is the sky remote code for Toshiba TV model 32BV500B? Thanks.

I've found two codes that work fine on a revision 8 Sky remote control and a revision 8r remote:

0056 (LG/Goldstar)
981 (General reset)

Both codes enable volume, channel selection and power on/off.
