Washer overfills

Overfill is cause mainly by pressure switch, check the pressure switch by measuring the connectivity of the switch when blowing to the hose tube (for old models top load only). For newer models the switch is an electronic part and normally can not test it.

Tip

F02 and F09 - valid for Whirlpool Duet front load washer, HE3, HE3T Kenmore,...

Hi.

This tip is valid for valid for Whirlpool Duet front load washer, HE3, HE3T Kenmore,Fagor, amd more washers built by Whirlpool group.

F02 means that there is a drain problem, and F09 is overflow condition. When you get both error , it is usually because of a faulty pressure switch. Better testing the drain system as described below , before replacing the pressure switch..

To start try clearing the error by disconnecting the power cord or tripping the circuit breaker for five minutes. If you can clear the error, then the problem was just temporary.

The drain pump must be accessed as the drain hose is probably clogged. Also drain pump must be tested and eventually replaced.

If you get the error , but there is no water inside, and drain system is working correctly, then test and eventually replace the water level pressure switch, that determines when to start/stop fillng and drain.

If the drain lines are not clogged, the drain pump can be tested by reading ohms at solenoid (contacts on valve), and by energizing the pump directly.

If the pump is fine, then test the pressure switch by jumping its contacts, and advancing cycle to drain to avoid overfilling.
If you get both the codes, the cause is usually the pressure switch

Since one of the codes is overfilling, check if the inlet valve is opening and closing during the cycle, by observing if water starts and stops flowing into the machine, or by reading volts at inlet valve or at electronic control contacts. If the valve stays open or leaks with no volts from timer, then the valve is faulty. If timer is opening the valve while draining, then the timer board is probably faulty.

If water and sensor are OK, then it can be a problem with wiring or control board. Electronic control board causing this error is not common.

Test all other parts first.

You can find parts and diagrams by entering model number here.

Test and repair must be done by a trained person. Call the phone number listed on the user manual if you need to contact a qualified technician.

Regards.

if you unplug it and the water keeps running replace the valve where the hoses are connected to but if it overfills and the water stops when you pull the plug replace the pressure switch

Kenmore 70 series washer over fills

there is a plastic tube that runs
from the tub to the overflow switch in washer. If this develops a hole in it, air
pressure is not applied to the switch to shut it off. good-day !

Fl code on kenmore calypso cannot clear

this is the fl code on a whirlpool calypso which is probably the same since kenmore is just a name,, whirlpool built the machine if u didnt know kenmore doesnt build anything they just put their name on things... (FL is a flood conditon.) FL flashes if any overfill condition occurs. This condition occurs when excessive water in the tub causes the overfill switch to trip. The control must realize that the trip was due to an overfill condition instead of a suds lack condition in order for FL to be displayed

With an overfill condition, the beeper repeats a warning every 10 seconds with no time-out. The pump is cycled in drain mode for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off until the overfill switch resets or power is discontinued to the unit.

Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

My kenmore washer does not fill completly with water

A machine that overfills or underfills can often have a faulty water level/pressure switch. It's a diaphragm like device with a small plastic tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level increases, so does the pressure on the air in the plastic tube and when it reaches a certain level, it activates the switch to shut off the water. Make sure there is no damage to or obstruction in the plastic tube. The switch can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity means a bad switch. Really sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

Water all in laundry room floor

Did the washer overfill or do did it leak the water out from somewhere? Typically, if the washer is overfilling it is caused by a faulty water level switch. This is a diaphragm like device with a small clear plastic tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level rises, pressure increases on the air in the tube and when it reaches a certain point, it activates the switch to turn off the water and signals the timer to agitate. Look for any obstructions in the tube and the switch can be tested for continuity with a multimeter. No continuity means the switch is defective. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Whirlpool Ultimate Care II - overfilling

Yes, its called a Pressure Switch and its located behind the load level selector knob in the operator console. A common problem with these model washer (and a very minor one) is that the air hose comes loose from the pressure switch, which causes the washer to overflow. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r762094-washer_overflows

Read through the link I provided and inspect the pressure switch. In many cases this is the a simple problem that appears to be something major. Best of all, reattaching the air hose won't cost you anything. If you perform these steps and still have a problem, more than likely you have a failed pressure switch that requires replacement. I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you require additional assistance.
