Air has more space to go through, will be harder to use on carpet until some dirt gets into the airbag, it will be easier, but you will need to replace bag again

Usually when dust is blowing out it is caused by a clog, either the hose, or the dirt inlet down by the brush roll is clogged. Check them and clean them out and you should be ok.

The bag has a cardboard collar with latex. It must seal over the inlet. Make sure not to tear the bag when replacing.
Is the cover closing properly? The cover seals against a gasket. The same with the filter.

Just above the hole where the hose goes there's a squarish part to where your hand should go. It should just pull upwards.
