Yes, you can recover data from Sony Handycam
1. Do not save any new file to Sony Handycam.
2. Remove memory card from Sony Handycam and connect the memory card to computer with a card reader. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download a file recovery software, recommended asoftech data recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked)
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/
4. Install and open asoftech data recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Next' button to start scanning process which will find your files.

Do not panic. You have chance to get the deleted files back. But to increase chances of recovery, the first thing should do - stop taking more photos or videos with the same Sony Handycam or saving new data to the memory card or hard drive insides. Then rely on a thrid-party data recovery tool to help recover the data.

This site Digital Camera Recovery outlines a few reliable & tested programs for both PC & Mac users. Hope it helps you out! Merry Christmas.

Good luck & Merry Christmas!

Hello, mithilesh_ko! Don't worry. I recommend you to use this photo recovery software (also recover audio and video files); it can help you recover your lost files from your Mp3 Player:
Photo Recovery for Windows Users
Photo Recovery for Mac Users
Kind Suggestion: Before your files are retrieved, do not save more files to the device (or memory card) in case the original files (your pictures and videos) are overwritten.
Best wishes!

You may try some recovery software to rescue the files on your recorder, here are some for your option.

Photo Video Music Recovery (for Windows)
Photo Video Music Recovery for Mac

Both programs can also recover video and music files.

Note: Before your files are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the camcorder in case the original files(your recordings) are overwritten.

Hi, I have some Sony Hi8 cassettes which are about ten years old. I can see little fungus on those tapes and not sure whether I should play it on my camcorder. I want to recover those videos into...

I would not recomend playing the tapes. If that fungus scratches the head you could be in for a massive repair bill. The best you can do is try to wipe it off with cotton buds. I just hope it's not widespread or you could have lost them for good. Only a specialist lab (film restorer) could rescue them then.

CAMCORDER'S TAPE IS STUCK, WHEN I PRESS EJECT, THE OUTER COMPARTMENT OPENED BUT THE TAPE COMPARTMENT DID NOT. IT WILL NOT GO DOWN ALSO?

You might have a sony handycam? If so, it is a manufacturers problem that came with the camera. Mine does this all the time, just slap the outside of it and it works. I know it sounds harsh - only do this if you have a sony handycam.

Disc Read Error Sony DVD Handycam

Does your camera have other outputs, i.e., composite-video and L/R audio ?

If the disk "plays" inside your video-camera, then use a "video-capture" USB device, to "play" the movie into the USB device, and "record" from the USB device into your computer.

Disc Read Error Sony DVD Handycam

I am just throwing these out there as food for thought. Make sure you ended the recording on that other side. If a DVD is left open(meaning more could be written to it) other dvd players have a hard time reading the info. Put in one of the 2 sided disc's that worked. how does the camera recognize the disc? Then insert the troubled disc and see if the disc info is being read the same. i.e. disk size, manufactuer, open/closed? Check for a firmware upgrade for your DVD burner/player(s). Let me know how things work out. Tim
