SOURCE: opening dwgs in autocad

In the past the fastest way to fix this is to go directly to the file and try to open it. It is possible that file or database has been corrupted. In some instances the file type dwg is not associated with autocad and the application hangs because it is looking for .dwg as an associated file type to autocad.

Let me know if you need further clarification.
Good luck!

Open up Windows Task Manager and look under the Processes tab and see if WSCommCntr2.exe is running. If so stop this process and see if this makes a difference.

SOURCE: NET is not installed, AutoCad

Go to Window's update center and make sure .NET is fully up to date. If you cannot find it there go to mircosoft.com and search for .NET, then follow their instructions to install it.

How to recover AutoCAD files from flesh card?

Hi,
If you need to recover it as fast as it possible install Recovery Toolbox for DWG , this thing is able to help you. But it's not free. Download free demo here:

http://www.dwg.recoverytoolbox.com/
As one of solutions I can advise you to try to open your files in MS Visio, Compass or using another program which could open dwg file. Or try to recover them using AutoCAD recovery function.
Also you can read here about dwg file corruption:

I recently openned a file from a friend and since then my autocad has got me crazy i have to run everythig under commands, ie: if i select something ang press the delete key it doesn't works, if i double...

I would recommend that you uninstall auto-cad and reinstall it. This is only if you have the CD and a product/serial key. A important file got corrupted when you open the file and possibly edited. the best way to fix the problem is do what i recommended, but then again you mush have the things i specified too.

Opening dwgs. in autocad 2004

Try rebooting your computer, then relaunch AutoCAD. If your .dwg file will not open then open the backup file. Sometimes the .dwg file goes crazy and the backup file will save your life, most of the time. Also make sure that your machine has enough memory to run AutoCAD. Memory is either your best friend or your worst enemy when working with AutoCAD. I hope this helps.

I had a cad drawing and I was messing around with it and lost it tried recover and can't recover it. I had someone resend it to me and every time I get it it changes to a file I can't open it is white page...

Most CAD programs such as AutoCad have a history of recently opened files. In AutoCad go to TOOLS/ OPTIONS/ FILES/ Automatic Save location. There you should find a file with the same name but a different file extension such as .BAK (AutoCad back-up) You can set AutoCad to automatically save to any time period, such as every 15 minutes.

Make a copy of this .BAK file so you keep that unchanged, Then change the file extension of the copied .BAK file to .DWG. Then you should be able to open this file. A file with an extension containing the $ symbol needs to be recovered using the programs recovery tool, in FILE/ DRAWING UTILITES/ RECOVER

If you're using a different CAD program look for this backup file wherever the programs Autosave files are set to be stored.

One other possiblity is the file extesnsion is set by your computer to open with another program for some reason. Right click and hit "open with"

Let me know if this helps

Autocad is not inastall

Vista is 64 bit O/s & your cad is not supported the application & also your cad is not vista verson that,s why it is not working, if you want to use either change the O/s or cad.
