SOURCE: Monitor goes into sleep mode after a few seconds

This is normaly cause by incorrect power management settings.

check power management setting in both windows and your computers bios

you will not need to worry about the power management settings of the bios when an operating system such as windows is loaded.

SOURCE: The computer shuts down with no warning.

I don't believe that this would be a hardware problem. Most likely the power settings for your PC are incorrectly configured for your liking. To repair these settings click Start/Control Panel, then click Power Options. From that panel, you will be able to set your power schemes. I would recommend the Always On option.

SOURCE: HP Slimline Pavillion s3123w monitor going to sleep.

Sounds like the motherboard might be bad but go thru these steps.

Unseat and reseat the memory one stick at a time in each slot one at at time and turn on the computer after each stick reinsertion.

If that doesn't get the video to come back up then go ahead and unseat and reseat the CPU. Then try turning on the computer.

If that doesn't do it, make sure there is no power going to the hard drive or the dvd drive. Then try turning on the computer.

If you do all of these steps and you still have no video, then the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced.

SOURCE: monitor goes into sleep mode...mentions no input

Connect the monitor to another computer (laptop?) to see if the monitor works at all.

Try connecting another monitor to your computer, to verify that your computer is emitting the correct video signals.

Computer in safe mode and monitor will go to sleep mode....help what can I do...my husband tried everything....

First, Shotdown your computer from start ,
then remove your computer power, remove VGA cable, remove VGA power cable. then
1- connect vga cable to computer.
2- connect VGA power but do not power on.
3- connect computer power on but do not turn on
4- turn on computer first and 3 second turn on your lcd.

if NOT try powering on computer then Monitor then power the computer then monitor.
IF NONE worked, YOU may have LCD that need drivers from manufacturing, some newer models required that, Specially for vista. You may use older Monitor to get drivers to computer and extracted, then you may connected, you will have solved the problem.

Can't switch on monitor screen

You must go into the BIOS of you computer and turn off the sleep mode and also in windows. Disconnect the monitor and power it on without hooking it up to the computer. If the monitor turn on and is working , then hook it up to the computer and try with with the sleep controls off to see if it works correctly. If this works you must check the owners manuals of the motherboard and monitor for the correct operation of the sleep mode functions. Then reinstall the sleep mode operation and see if everything works correctly. If the monitor fails to work. Try the monitor on another computer and see if it will function. If all this fails to get the monitor working , then you will need to have the monitor tested in a service center to find the problem and have it repaired. You should also check your computer on another monitor just to maker sure you don not have a problem with the computer too. Hope this helps you with your problem.

Monitor in sleep mode

This problem could be caused by windows or the monitor .You need to hook up your monitor to another computer and see if you get the same response. If you do check and see in the owners manual if there is a control for power management.Find the control and try to adjust it, or turn it off. If all this does not work than you need to take the monitor in for servicing. If the monitor works, you may have a problem with the computer bios or windows itself. Check all power management controls in the bios and window settings and see if you can find the problem.Check the Microsoft website for this problem with your operating system and a solution. Hope this helps.

Computer asleep

If you go to control panel > display settings > Screen Saver > Power (win XP) or Control Panel > Power Settings (Vista).

This will allow you to turn off the sleep or change the amount of time until the computer goes to sleep or turns the monitor off.

Monitor stays asleep

Check in the BIOS and see what your monitor settings are.
Did you change the sleep mode or power off mode? What do you do to make it come back on? Sounds like it might be getting too hot and/or going bad. Try it on another machine and see what it does. Also try another video card because the video card could be going bad.

Going to Sleep

Due to the power surge, it is highly possible that the monitor was given a boot by your computer on it's way out.

This will short out a very small transistor inside the monitor on the video board and in turn, then monitor cannot see that there is a signal so goes to sleep.

If you get brave enough to venture inside the screen, then check near the cable input. The transistors are only around 3mm and have 3 legs (two one side and one in the middle on the other).

If you find anything like that burnt (get a magnifying glass) then replacing the board is the easiest option. Just don't be tempted to wipe the board before you look at everything very closely, you may wipe away the tiny bit of evidence you are looking for.

Hope it helps =)
