Question about Toshiba Satellite P105-S6227 Notebook

Power port connection

The power port connectsion seems to be inoperable. There is no power being transfered to the laptop when the cord is plugged in. I would like to get the schematics so that I know how to open up the box and visually inspect the port connectiong to the Motherboard.

I would check the power adapter first before dismantling the laptop.
Test the power plug on the adapter with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher that the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the power adapter.
If the voltage is zero or very low the the adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.

My HP pavilion laptop has a problem when I power it the lights just go on then off

Start by making sure its plugged in and charging. most laptops have a light that is on if the cord is plugged in.if its plugged in and there is no light one wiggle on the connection on your power cord. start at the wall and check every connection. if the light blinks than you power cord is bad or the power port in the laptop has disconnected from the mother board. Some computer stores will have a loaner universal laptop charger you can borrow. I recommend borrowing there universal before you buy a new power cord

I have an AspireOne netbook that has always worked till yesterday when it did not want to come on. It lights up for a couple of seconds and turns off. It did this last night ... but finally did come on...

Whenyou connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED lightup? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's powersocket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DCplug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltageshould be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on thebottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that isprinted on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK thenconnect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/batterycharging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's powersocket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position thisLED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a drysolder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but itrequires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket andrepair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

The power plug doesn't seem to connect properly and, when it does, the charging light invariably flashes and fails to charge the battery.

Try purchasing a new power cord and if that does nt work then it would be the port on the laptop itself and if that is the case then that is not fixable and will need a new motherboard or computer.

My power cord not charging battery

you may have damaged the power input port.
broken solder joint. or your power supply took a dive. if you have a DMM 'meter' check the power supply to see if you are getting power from it.
if it is the power input port, you will have to either open up the laptop and see if it is a fixable soldering job or take it to a pro.
Happy Fixing =)

Power chord must must moved continually to show charge

Yes, this is common, if the power cord at the connector is flexed continually then the metal fibres in the cord will break due to metal fatigue.
You can cut off the connector away from the break and fit a new connector on the cord, make sure the the wires are soldered correctly to provide the correct polarity at the connector.
The problem could be at the laptop where the connector plugs into the laptop's power socket. It could have a dry solder joint or the socket is faulty. This requires dismantling to repair.
The HP warranty would cover the normal warranty period and would not extended for worn parts.

Power issue

The power cord might be bent or screwed up. Or option two, the actual power connection in your laptop (i.e. the place where you plug in the cord to the laptop) could be broken on the inside.

Worse case scenario, it could be both.

If it is just the laptop cord, try another connection cord that will plug into your laptop. If it works, buy a universal adapter.

If it doesn't work, and you notice that when you plug it in to the laptop, it kind of wiggles around a bit or seems loose on the "inside" of the laptop ... you might need to take it in to a shop to have a new power connector sodered into place in your laptop.

Best of luck.

Compaq Presario 900 power cord connection problem

I've fixed a couple and finally resorted to using a cable retention device like the one in this video to stop the constant tugging and jerking that seems to cause the failures. PS the design of the pins/sockets is really shabby.
