Question about Epson Stylus CX6600 All-In-One InkJet Printer

How do I recover data on a flash drive that is NOT recognized?

Yes, this flash drive is over one year old and has never been abused. It has been dependable (up to this point) day in and day out. I have 'no problem' taking it apart (if need be) and sacrificing the drive itself AFTER I retrieve the contents. I would appreciate any/ all possible options at this point.

Thank you, in advance, for your time and cosideration.

The problem with flash memory is that it is extremely corruptible, flash memory can corrupt when u least expect it.

it is unlikely that u will be able to recovery any files off of the memory.

if it is a card then u might be able to but probably not

Hi there,

you may need a card reader to be able to access it and connect & read it through your computer

Hi, unless you can get the computer to detect the drive you will have to send the memory stick to a recovery/repair service. if you can get it detected at home, you can use a data recovery software. like File Scavenger

Posted on Mar 12, 2009

  • Ekse Mar 12, 2009

Try FileScavenger in any case. http://www.quetek.com/prod02.htm
see if the free/test version can recover files from the drive. if it can't you could try forceing a driver to install on the unregonized usb device and then try recovery again.

installing a customer driver is done similiarly to this guide
    http://www.rr-cirkits.com/locobuffer-usb...

Instead of going with the automatic you would need to use the advanced option - select driver yourself and then locate the correct one for the drive. You could compair the driver on a working drive and then install the same driver to the faulty one and see if it helps.

Filescavenger will do the rest, its a awesome software. aslong as the drive actually works.

if the drive is faulty and completely unreadable, recovery service is your only option and that may not be succesfull either.

Also try the memory card on another computer or another cardreader keep pluging it in and out, eventually if its just a temporary problem it should install automatically. You can also try turning off the computer pluging in the memory card and then starting the computer up with the memory card connected. sometimes this can fix thatkind of a power problem with the card.

I had format my Fs-4 Pro HD, and I need that

Hello

My apologies if this message finds you long after posting this problem , but I am currently working through a backlog of problems that never got answered and hopefully this info can still be of use if not now possibly in future.

Please download Disc Digger HERE. This is a free tool you can use that works very well and there is no installation required, just run the program once you downloaded it.

Once you have connected the memory disk / hdd to the computer , run the program.

On the program , select the dig deep option for accidentally deleted files or dig deeper for a formatted drive. Then select the disk you want to do the recovery on and run the program.

The data will be displayed and you can recover it from there. This will only work if the card has not been used since the data was lost. Save the files to a location on the computer hard drive and not back to the disk it is recovering from as this will overwrite the other pictures that still needs to be recovered.

Some of the properties of the files may become lost in the recovery but the pictures should be fine.

You will also only be able to recover certain file types using this method.

Feel free to ask if you need more assistance.

Kind Regards
Andrea

I bought a 1 TB external just a month ago and my saved music folder on there gives me the message "cyclin redundancy check" error..what is the best way for me to recover these files?

When your computer writes a block of data to a disk-drive, it calculates a "check-sum" value, and writes that value, along with the data. When your computer reads that same block, it also reads the check-sum value, and it recalculates the check-sum, using the same "Cyclic Redundancy Check" algorithm.

If the "new" check-sum matches the "old" check-sum, then it is declared that the data was correctly written & then read. Any "mismatch" indicates an "I/O-error", i.e., at least part of your disk-drive is dying, even though it's only a month old.

Maybe, it's only one file in one folder that has become "unreadable", but it could be much more.

Copy all the files that you can, and exercise the warranty on the disk-drive to get it replaced.

Re;- MacBook Pro 17 I had to completely erase my hard drive and re-install everything to solve another issue. Everything is working fine now. Now I would like to retrieve some data from my Time Machine...

When you reloaded it asked you to transer file from one mac to another that is where you old backup came in but since you did not do that you need to go back to that step again and this will follow threw with the backup process

Time machine can be found under applications once loaded you can select that backup drive and the restore as well.

thanks hope this helps please do click the accept button for my efforts.

Was working fine until it fell over whilst on, it then started making a strange sound and now dosent work. a red light has appeared. Can this be fixed without losing the info store.

The hard drive sounds like it is physically damaged inside. Sometimes data can be recovered from the hard drive, but it does cost $

If the data on the drive isn't absolutely necessary to recover, I would get a new hard drive and reload the software.

Hi Maltomeal

it seems you know your way around notebooks.
My first suggestion is to take the new hard drive out, and put the old one into the new computer to see if it will at least boot up.

Since I don't know the operating system or the type of format that was on your old hard drive, it is possible that the current operating system you are using will not recognize the old one.

If the hard drive boots up, and it may not recognize some of the drivers because its a different computer configuration, you should still be able to backup to a thumb drive.

If the hard drive does not boot up, then your hard drive has lost its information. You might need to take the hard drive to a data recovery company like ontrack.

thanks adi
